Maybe it's here somewhere.......we're staying at BCV in July of '10 renting points from a DVC member and I've read conflicting reports on my question. As a guest of a DVC'er can you purchase the QSDP? I've read (pretty sure it was listed in 'Passport' book) that you couldn't. However there's no mention of not being able to do that on any other websites. Also what do you think the chances are that they add the souvenir mug to the DDP next year. Kind of odd it's on the QSDP and not on DDP isn't it?

Lots of pixie dust for all,

We just returned on Thurs & used the QSDP while staying on our points. We actually used all three plans on this trip since we had split reservations:goodvibes. I loved the QSDP even though we still had to scramble to use up SC on last day:rotfl2:

We are DVC members and have used the QS DDP also. We generally only do it when we rent a DVC resort for one night, then move to another the next day for the full stay. For example, in July we arrive late on Saturday and I didn't want to pay the big points for Saturday night at the WLV, so we are booked at AKV-value room. We will get the QS DDP for the one night. We get 2 CS credit and 2 snack credits and a mug all for $29. Then the next day we move to the WLV and get the regular DDP, but we now have the mug to use for this visit too. The only downside of buying the QS DDP for BCV and BWV is their lack of CS locations at those resorts. The choices are slim. We don't mind doing it at the AKV since Mara has good choices.

I think there's no chance, and I don't think it's odd at all.
One refillable mug per participating Guest is a feature of the Deluxe Dining Plan, and has been since it started (1/1/08). You pay more, so you get more.
One refillable mug per participating Guest is also a feature of the less-costly, but also fewer-optioned, Quick Service Dining Plan. Since those Guests are going to be using ALL their meal credits in CS locations - often, but not always, in the resorts (where the mugs can be filled free) - it's reasonable to offer them as an added incentive.
The original Dining Plan remains so popular - despite changes - that there is no need for Disney to add a feature/perk that would bring it more in line with the more expensive plan, causing fewer Guests to purchase the latter.

DVC members can purchase any of the three dining plans - but everyone on one reservation must purchase the same dining plan. To switch dining plans, you must have separate reservations. (There's a previous poster who did just that above)

I am with Kaytie, I don't think it odd at all that they don't include a mug with the basic plan. It's by far the most popular plan and doesn't need to be supplemented with a mug. The mug is an extra added incentive to break from going with the majority who are buying the basic plan and 1) pick the quick service and free up space in the TS restaurants or 2) pick the deluxe and spend lots more money. For that reason, I wouldn't look for a mug to be added to the basic plan.
