Hey Gang,

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that getting a private car to take you to and from the airport, may be a nice idea instead of ME. The car may even stop at a local grocery to pick up a couple of items. Not sure if there was a particular service to use or a website to look at rates. We staying on-site and really don't need to rent a car, but Spirit Airlines doesn't participate in ME, so I'm looking for potential options!

When we stay off site we use TiffanyTown Car and always make the grocery stop. We always had good service with them although we have stayed onsite the last few years so can't vouch for them recently.

That is who we have used and loved! Every trip includes a 30 min grocery stop

I don't understand when you say Spirit Airlines doesn't participate in ME? I don't think DME cares what airlines you fly on as long as you fly into and out of MCO. Does Spirit Airlines fly into Sanford perhaps?

DME does not care what airline you fly in on, but if Spirit does not participate, then OP won't be able to check in at the resort for the flight home.

But the OP would still be able to ride from the resort to the airport. She would just have to have her bags stowed beneath the bus instead of being checked thru to the airport. And she would have to either check in online herself or do it when she reaches the airport.

But if she prefers to get a private car for the trip, I also recommend Tiffany. We used them years ago, before DME. The only thing that I didn't like was that they di their grocery stop at Goodings. I would have preferred Publix.

I recommend Southern Elegance Limo, if you really want a car service, but ...

as the others have said, there is no such thing as an airline not participating in Magical Express. You don't even need to fly in to the airport to use ME, you could get there via car from some other location and still use ME from the airport to your resort. As long as you are at Orlando Airport (not Sanford).

The only thing that could be non-participating for an airline is Resort Airline Check-in, which is separate from ME. It's just a way to check-in your luggage and yourselves at the resort prior to arriving at the airport for your flight home. You would just have to take your luggage with you on the ME bus.

I paid $140 RT for a short-notice reservation with Southern Elegance last fall from MCO to Disney (Sanford would cost more). I know there are other car services that may be less expensive, but if I were in your position, I would just take ME and use a grocery delivery service if you need that.

We use Tiffany Towncar as my dh does not care for the Magical Express bus. We ask the driver to just stop at the hess mini mart for a few items.

We will book them again for our May trip but this time I think I will ask for an actual grocery store stop as I want to get more items but not enough for a garden grocer resort delivery order.

Tiffany is always very prompt. Just the drivers are not too talkative.
