I recently booked a house in Indian Point for our upcoming April trip. We'll be there from 4/17 to 4/24. For those of you that have rented pool homes before, around that time of year, did you find it necessary to have the pool and jacuzzi heated? We'll probably be using the pool in the early morning and at night, and during the day on a couple of off days.

It's $100 to have it heated for the week, which is about what every rental home seems to charge, but if we can get by without it we would rather spend the money on something else.

I suppose it depends on how much sun the pool gets. It is usualy warm enough to swim in April and uncovered, unheated pools are generall OK. But if it is shaded, it may not be able to warm up enough during the day to hold its heat at night.

The jacuzzi should be heated, in my opinion. Aren't they supposed to run at 102 or so? It definitely will not get there naturally. Not to mention, if the air is cooler, the bubbles will bring down the water temp.

I'd get the pool heat. We had pool heat in mid April 2003, and November 2002, really needed it. We did not get it when we stayed at a house for 3 weeks May 15-June 7, 2002, The first 7-10 days the weather was wonderful for touring the parks but the pool was cool, even in the afternoons. The last 10 days the water felt a little better but still too cool for just lounging, ok for true swimming like my kids do.

Even more important ask if they have a cover .If they have use it as any heat built up during the day will be kept in overnight thereby helping to keep the pool warm for the mornings. Having said that most of my guests have the pool heated up until the end of april .
