A lot of rumors are going around the restuarant board about Disney's Garden Grill discontinuing the "Re-hitching Ceremonies." I hope not.

Yea, in a fun non-serious way. You reagree to your vows, and kiss for the count of 100 (by tens), and get a certificate sign by Mickey. It's done in fun and humor.

Any rumored reason as to way the would drop re-hitching ? I have an idea that I'll keep to myself for the time being but curious to know what others are saying.

I hope not. Our 19th. year anniversary is oct. 19 the day we arrive and we are planning on getting rehitched that night with the 5 cherubs in tow!

re-hitching ewas discontinued due to "numerous customer complaints".

I took my parents down for their 37th anniversary. I made priority seating arrangements and made sure to ask about re-hitching. They gave confirmation.

When checking in to the restaurant, I made sure to mention to the host about the re-hitching. He gave confirmation.

The lunch came and went with no ceremony. So, I asked our waiter, and he apologized, but said they stopped it 4 days prior. (My visit was 9/22/04).

I was EXTREMELY disappointed, since up until the end of our lunch, everyone I spoke with confirmed the re-hitching ceremony. It was supposed to be a surprise for them. It turned out to be a sad suprise for all of us, I'm sorry to say.

Sorry for the bad news!

Maybe you should write Disney and let them know how dissapointed you were. My parents were there for their 25th and it was absolutley magical. Maybe enough positive comments will counteract the stupid negative ones.

I think I know why they are doing away with it, and I would never post the reason. I don't think there is anything we could say to bring it back, if I am right.

Eeyore Kelly...

C'mon... fess up.... You can't just put a statement out there like that... specially on this rumor board without explaining yourself. If you won't post it will you PM me? I gotta know. We're going in a few days and we really wanted to do this.

How about if I say Pretty Please... with sugar, and a cherry and whipped cream and chocolate syrup on top????

I agree with Kala, I want to know also! eeyore kelly cannot just throw out a baiting statement like that with no explanation!

Hmm... yeah, I could see how that could offend people. And someone would probably sue them if they denied a same sex couple. Argh.

That was my guess for the reason also......could also have been some couples were too enthusiastic with their kiss!

Hey Disney here is an idea.

If your worried about same sex couple's do it for aniversary of 10 and up. 10,15,20, etc

Yes I know you will still get them, but there will be far less.

Doug

I booked a rehitching ceremony for November. I booked it in October. Nobody said they didn't do it. Got a confirmation number.

I can't believe that gays couples re-hitching would be the reason.

Disney has very strong ties to the gay communities. Don't they even have a "Gay Day"? I would suppose that would get MANY, MANY more complaints than a 20 second kiss during a re-hitching ceremony, and that continues strong.

I've only been to the Garden Grill once, but the booths are sort of private, aren't they? The platform slowly spins. I can't imagine that maybe a couple dozen people TOPS would be able to view the ceremony. Again, I've never seen one done, but I would presume this to be the case.

Finally... it's DISNEY!!! Disney attracts a certain type of person. You're probably not going to see the "fringe element" vacationing here (both straight and gay). I would think they would rather vacation in Vegas, an adult beach resort, or something a little more "exciting" than Disney's friendly, family atmosphere. The typical Disney guest, IMHO, is aware that there are children EVERYWHERE, and would probably act appropriately. I know I "watch what I say" more carefully when in the parks.

Anyhow, I personally doubt that the re-hitching ceremony was cancelled for that reason. I would really like to find out the "official" reason from Disney, though.

Disney doesn't have "Gay Day". The gays have an annual event that is termed Gay Days by them.

While many people are more tolerant of the gay lifestyle, it doesn't mean they want their children witnessing it first hand while they are on vacation in Disney.

winniedapooh, what a surprise when I read your wedding anniversary is the very same as mine. 10-19-85. We're going to WDW next year for our 20th. Can't wait!:hyper:
