I read on another thread that in the Garden Grille they do a "re-hitching" ceremony where you can re-new your wedding vows...does anyone know anything about this and what all it involves and if they still do this???

Thanks!

You may want to post this question on Resorts Board too. They may help you with that becuase of Grand Floridian Weeding Pav. I cant move it though im not a mod

HELP!

Well, I started too, but I heard it was in Epcot, so I figured this was the place to post it, or the restaurant board. If it is the restaurant board, Im sure it will be moved. :)

I know I couldnt afford the wedding pavalion at the GF...

Thank you SeaSpray!!!!!! Wow, this sounds like such a great thing!!

My hubby is so picky on where to eat, so I had to go ahead and tell him about this and I told him we were gonna get re-hitched and I told him what the deal was and HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT!!!! :)

thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

And on top of that, it is FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there!DH and I did the Re-hitching during the Ice Cream Social.I was so excited about having it done for our 15 th anniversary. It was a little bit of a let down.I thought the characters would be involved.A waitress came over made us stand up and with a very LOUD voice said some words. Then made us kiss while everyone counted to 100...by 10's.Then you got a certificate that you're re-hitched.I wouldn't do it again. But like so many things at WDW one persons experience is completely different then another's.Maybe the dinner re-hitching is better.I read at one time if it's done at dinner they send out a cake M'M Have a good time!!!

I had scheduled this as a surprize for my husband last time we went for our 11th anniversary when I called for reservations. I didn't mention anything about it when we checked in other than we had reservations and the time. Needless to say we did not get the ceremony. I can only assume that they never looked at the reservations notes when we checked in. It was a very slow time of the year and there really wasn't a line waiting. Became a large dissapointment, Had to finally tell my husband why I seemed down about the ice cream. So my advice is to have it anotated when you make your reservations and mention it again when you check in.

I will remember that. I dont think I want to do it at the Ice Cream Social, I would rather do it at the restaurant.

I will make PS for it and tell them, and then when we get there, before we sit, I will tell them again. I hope they will still do it. It sounds so much fun!

We were just down there in Nov. I had scheduled the Rehitchin when I made my PS for the ice cream social. I made sure that i reminded the CM at check in about it. Needless to say it never happened even after all the arrangements I made. A real disapointment.

Rehitching Ceremony

Have you ever considered renewing your wedding vows while vacationing at Walt Disney World? Are you celebrating an Anniversary or just want to surprise your spouse? With a little advance planning it can be done.

The Rehitching Ceremony takes place at the Garden Grill restaurant, in the Land Pavilion, at Epcot. Your server acts as the clergy person. They read some fun vows for you to repeat. You have to kiss in front of the whole restaurant, often to the count of 100. You'll receive a special certificate to commemorate the event and a cake. Mickey, Chip and Dale have been known to attend the festivities.

You must request the ceremony when you make your priority seating arrangements at the restaurant. Tell the cast member when you phone that you want to get 'rehitched'. Also when you arrive at the restaurant remind the Staff at the podium. Arrangements can be made by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

Another tip -- ask if SAM is working/on duty when you arrive. If he is, ask to be seated in his service area. We did the rehitching ceremony in May and Sam did the ceremony. He was fantastic! He really "hammed" it up (a lot!) and also ran around to get some characters and additional staff to participate. Yes, it was over quickly, but Sam made it a memory for a lifetime. I highly recommend asking for him -- we saw him again when we returned for another visit in November.

We never even knew about the Rehitching Ceremony until we suddenly found ourselves being rehitched. We were on our honeymoon (yeah, we were wearing the wedding ears) and the cast member taking care of our table asked if we had gotten married at WDW. When we told him no, he informed us that the wedding didn't count until it was finalized BY HIM at Mickey's World. Before we knew he, he had launched into the ceremony and other cast members and characters were joining in. He was a riot, and it certainly provided a lot of entertainment for those around our table.
