I have tried searching for some info, but the Search function isn't working, so I need help!

I am planning our next WDW trip, and it happens to coincide with the beginning of the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. We have never been to that before, in fact (horror of horrors) have never even been around the World Showcase! I have really been looking forward to finally getting to explore WS (kids are older, we have more time), and can't decide if the F & W Fest will be a good or a bad thing for us. First off, we won't be interested in any of the visiting Specialty dinners, Party for the Senses, Food and Wine Pairings, etc. I would just love to explore the countries, ride the 2 rides, see some of the live entertainment and have a nice dinner, followed by Illuminations. Does the Festival bring in large crowds to WS? How does it affect crowds in the FW area? Are there any fun things for kids to do or see? I can change my itinerary to have Epcot on the day before it starts, but I would rather not have to change everything around.
So basically what I'm asking is: For my family, is the F & W Festival worth doing, or worth avoiding? Thanks in advance. :)

F & W Festival brings in a lot of people especially on the weekends. There are 25+ food booths set up around World Showcase specifically for this event where they sell samplings of food from countries around the world. You can eat and/or drink your way around World Showcase during this event. If you want to avoid the crowds don't go on the weekends. Friday, Saturday & Sunday there are many more winery people there conducting the seminars. During the week days it is a little slower. It's a good way to sample different types of food without paying for a full meal. Some of the events are held in the Odyssey building & the building that use to have the Pizza Restaurant in FW. And there have also been some special themed booths set up in FW for the event but the food booths are all in WS.

Don't forget they also have the EAT TO THE BEAT concert series, with concerts every day at 5:45, 7:00 and 8;15.

Isn't that the building over right before Mexico? When I was in HS I remember that being a counter service restaurant, and then when I got married the building was closed and has been ever since.

I'm glad someone posted this. I'm also going at the beginning of October and wanted to know more.
Thanks :)

Hey Yvonne! Good to hear from you :goodvibes We're going for the Columbus Day weekend - I'm surprising the kids tomorrow morning with the news. But I still don't know what we're going to dress up as :confused3
Will you be going to the F&WF?
You know, your kids might like that new Bibbity Bobbity Boutique!
I guess we'll miss you by a few days. Have a wonderful Easter
