Hi Everyone, I checked and my deed should be recorded the 2nd week in August. We want to use our points at AKL in October. I have to wait until the deed is recorded to make the reservation. I already made a CRO reservation because we want to be there for Halloween, just to be sure.
But I am worried that once the deed is recorded I will not be able to get availability at AKL for the week in October.
Finally my question..my use year is February, what happens if I can't use my points for my Oct trip. I will be beyond the banking deadline for 100% of my points. What are my options in this worse case scenario?

Two options are:
Rent your points out and use the cash to pay for the AK rooms

Ask for the one time banking exception

That is a busy time of year for DVC. Because of the food and wine festival, it is also very busy for the Epcot area resorts. You have a good shot at AKL, but why are you discounting the possibility of a DVC resort?

If its AKL or nothing, you may have to use the one time banking privilidge or rent out the pounts.

I am not completely sure when the new discount codes are good for, but if they include your dates you should check them out. I would think you would save alot by renting out your points and paying cash for the reservation. We just booked the AKL for $119 a night plus tax for standard and $159 for Savannah view. I could be wrong, but I think these are pretty good rates.

I really don't think you will have a problem getting a room at the AKL if you plan to use DVC points to pay for it unless:

*the AKL is completely sold out for the dates that you want to stay. The only limitation on using points is availability. DVC rooms are not limited in number like the code/AP discounted rooms are limited.

* you are making your reservation less than 60 days before the end of your use year. But since your use year is February, you do not have to worry about that!
