I've been reading the boards over the past few days on booking cruises--some great ideas! A lot has been said about re-booking a future cruise while on your current one. About how much of a savings is it? Can it be transferred to my own TA or does DCL need to make all of the future arrangements? Are there any other benefits to this type of booking? The boards have been a wonderful source of information--thanks to all of you who are willing to share your experience and knowledge!

I have been wondering what the benefits are for rebooking onboard for a 3 or 4 night cruise. It seems like the discounts I hear about for only for the 7 night.

So if anyone can let us know about 3/4 night cruise rebooking discounts, I would really appeciate it!

Thanks!
DJ

The benefit to the 7 night rebooking is 10% off the current rate AND a $200 credit per stateroom.

Yes, there was a benefit to the shorter cruises, but I don't remember what it was...sorry.

We rebooked on-board and the DCL person asked us if we wanted to transfer the booking to the TA who handled the current cruise. She did so as we sat there and all we did upon return was alert our TA.

My family is taking our first cruise in April 2005 & if all goes well, I plan on rebooking while onboard.

I have a few questions before I do:

1) Do you need to put down a deposit? If so, is it the same as when you book from from ($200-250/per person)?

2) How far in the future can you rebook a cruise? I want to book for Nov. 2006, but I thought I read they will ony book 11 months from the cruise you are on  !

Thanks for all the help!

;) :D ,
Katie

You need to make a deposit of $200/$250 per person depending on the type of cruise you are booking. We booked a cruise last year while we were on board to get the discounts and credit. The date we booked was not want we wanted as the dates for 2005 were not out then. The CM who does the on board booking told us to book a cruise and then transfer it later. We did that when the 2005 dates opened up and kept our discounts. It was very easy.

I really wish Disney would give you a grace period regarding rebooking. They should let you rebook with the same discounts if you do it at home within a week of sailing. I really hate wasting time waiting for the rep to be free and then spending time rebooking. I would rather enjoy my vacation. During our cruise last April I went by the agent on the shop several times and she was always with someone. What a pest!

I rebooked while onboard for the 3 day land 4 day cruise for 4/28/2005 ...I got the 10% discount and also the $200.00 shipboard credit ::yes:: Then I had Donna the booking agent on the ship transfer my reservation to Dreams Unlimited and they took another $75.00 off the price :Pinkbounc I wanted to book the REAS package also at that time..but it wasn't available then:( But I heard it's available now..so I emailed my travel agaent here at dreams and told her to add it to my package!!! Oh forgot to mention...I had to leave a $200.00 deposit for each person going on the trip.

You can re-book for any cruise that they have published the prices. This is usually 18 months out. If you are using DVC points, you can only book 11 months ahead (so that might be where that idea came from.)

Yes, you can transfer to a TA. If you transfer to a discount TA, you can pick up any benefits they may offer also.
