Re-booking while onboard?

I have read that you can get a $200 credit if you re-book your next cruise while onboard the ship. How do the prices they quote onboard compare to booking from land? Are they the same prices as you would be quoted if you went to DCL online?

I noticed the rate I got while I booked on board was the same rate that was on the DCL web site. The only differece is that you get the $200 onboard stateroom credit for a 7night cruise. I didn't notice about the 7 night land and sea package on board credit was. I know for a 4nt cruise its $100.

YOu can get "special rates" onboard for certain dates. I know that the dates we were interested in weren't the "special dates", so our rates were the same as the quoted on their website with the onboard credit. We ended up getting a voucher for DVC instead.

If you are even considering rebooking, do it while on board! You really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Once you arrive home, you can transfer the booking to a TA of your choice who can watch the price for you. If the price goes down before your final payment, DCL will honor the lower price, and you get to keep the $200 on board credit. Seems like a win-win situation to me! And, as long as you cancel more than 60 days in advance, you get a full refund of your deposit.

(Of course, we were just on board, considered rebooking, didn't and have since decided to book. No $200 credit for us! )

We booked on board and they transferred it to Dreams FOR me. Can't beat that.

We booked onboard for the $200.00 credit. The prices are the same as off the website..but you get to pick your cabin right there. The 7 day cruise's and 7 day land and sea get $200.00 onboard credit. The others get $100.00

They told us we can reschedule it change the itinerary and we do not lose the credit. There is a deposit required. $250 per person for 7 day cruises and$200 for the others.

We booked our 01/04 Western while on board. They put down DU as our agent and our rate is lower than what was on the DCL site then and now. Plus our $200 Disney credit and $150 DU Rebate. I think we have a great price!

We booked 3 rooms while on board the 3/15 western for the 3/20 eastern. We asked the grandparents who were with us if the would like to go again next year and they said no. After we returned home and we were talking about the 3/20 cruise they were surprised that the ship took a differetn route. NOW they want to go again on 3/20 with us. I wish DCL still had the book with in 120 days deal still going on. They will miss out on the $200 credit.

Yes, I agree totally with Padre Disney - that 120 days was wonderful and we used it exclusively our first 4 cruises. Sad that such a great idea has gone by the wayside -

Maybe if Disney hears enough complains they will go back to it!
You just never know!

I was on the Wonder 3 weeks ago and really wanted to go on the Magic. Because I have limited vacation time, I had to figure my plans around holiday weekends, etc. Candace (the onboard booking agent on my cruise) was awesome. I decided on a week and she told me I could change it if I decided I needed to and still keep the credit. Also, you can still get a full refund up to 60 days prior. They are very familiar with Dreams Unlimited and when I asked her to transfer it over to them, she had only great things to say about them. I got the $200 credit from disney and the rebate from dreams. Also, if the price goes down after you book, Dreams will let you know. Even if you're unsure, I say go for it - you can always cancel later!

I have read so many wonderful stories on this board that even though I haven't cruised Disney yet, I am ready to plan a follow-up 7 day on the Magic! DH did ask recently about the prices on board, being skeptical that maybe they were higher onboard and possibly cancelling out the onboard credit. But, that doesn't appear to be the case.

It really sounds like a win-win. We have been thrilled with DU for our current land/sea booking on the Wonder. So if I understand correctly, we could re-book onboard, and for the future cruise, get a onboard credit from DCL and if we transfer it to DU at the right time, get a rebate and onboard credit from DU. Plus DU will let us know if the price goes down. How could we lose! I guess I am formulating my points to make to DH!

We leave this Wed. for our first trip to WDW and then the Wonder. Thanks for all of your help!

My DD got sick and would not let me go near any idea of rebooking on board.

But low and behold, we are going again! It would be great if Disney brought back the "within 120 days", it would be nice to have the credit!

But the way I'm looking at it, I'M GOING, IT'S 7 DAYS, and I get to meet up with my good friend Minybear again!

Is it January yet?

This applies only in SOME circumstances. We booked a Nov. 29, 2003 cruise on our last cruise and we received the $200 onboard credit.

However, we decided that Nov. 29th was WAY too far off and changed our reservation to May 3, 2003. This sailing was a Florida Resident Special and we were informed that the credit was not transferable to this sailing. All in all, we still made out with a better deal (only $599 for a 7-day Eastern - Magic cruise).
