We are going to WDW in March, the trip is a few days before my daughter will be sweet 16. I have been planning this since 09/04. I know her birthday is not exactly falling on any of the days we will be there. (we are coming home on 3/26 her BD is 3/27) I have been saving for a long time. We are not lucky enough to be able to go back again. I am a single parent, and this is a once in a lifetime trip, I told her that this is her birthday/Christmas present. Is she to old to get a birthday pin & would it be ok to do this as it's not exactly her BD. I want this to be the best trip ever, as it's our first real vacation. I have learned so much on these boards. Thanks to everyone! You all are the best!!!

Since I can't get my counter to work.....here it is.......

56 DAYS TIL WE SEE MICKEY.......YEAH!!!!!

You may get some conflicting opinions on the birth'day' question, but I say, yes !!!! - if she'll wear the button(s) - pick one up. Last year I wore one (the day before my b'day(50) since we checked out on my b'day') and my friend wore one, too, right after his b'day(26) so we could enjoy our 'days' together. We had a lot of fun hearing so many CMs (and guests) wish us "HB" - he was given a free slice of apple pie at lunch and I was called to the phone at Little Mermaid for a special birthday call from Goofy ! I'm taking my DS next week for his 16th also - I know he won't wear a Bday button, so I'm going to follow a tip I read on the boards - making a little cardboard sign to carry in my bag that says "today's my 16th b'day" - I'm going to hold it up behind his head until he catches on (and tortures me back)! :smooth: Be sure and note the birthday on your room and dining reservations - nothing is guaranteed, but you may receive some birthday 'magic' - you never know - depends on the CMs.

Have a wonderful mother/daughter trip - I've been fortunate enough to take one-on-one trips with my kids and they are some of our most special memories!!!

Yes definitely celebrate, its close enough! Its always difficult celebrating on the actual day anyway, even at home. Sounds like your trip will be great and i'm so happy you'll be able to celebrate her birthday at Disney! I hope you receive lots of pixie dust from the CM's and that you have the best time ever!

My DD turned 16 in WDW last November. Her big day was in the middle of our trip, but we celebrated all week. We told everyone from hotel reservations to CM at every restuarant we went to. She got a birthday button and wore it all week. At 1900 Park Fare, they brought a crown and sang to her. The Prince spent a little extra time with her... The young guy at guest services brushed off the Prince and complimented my DD while getting her birthday button. On her birthday, she found a balloon, card and autographed photo of Cinderella in her room...(thank you ASM staff!) She got birthday cupcakes and muffins with many meals...her cousins took turns telling our hosts/hostesses about her birthday she acted embarrassed, but she really loved all the attention!

I'm so glad you asked. We will be celebrating my dd's 17th birthday during our upcoming trip. I plan on getting the birthday button and we also got a ressie for breakfast at Cindy's on her actual birthday.

Keep the ideas coming!

Of course your daughter should wear the button (even if it is a day before her *actual* birthday). I finally got to go back to DW after being away 30 years and my wife set me up with a birthday pin on my 40th birthday. It's an amazing experience and your daughter shouldn't miss it for the world. It's even more magical than a typical day at DW (if that is possible).

Have a great trip! I hope you and your daughter have the trip of a lifetime.
