While in Vegas, I became a big, big fan of buffets. The only buffet I've had at Disneyw as at the Crystal Palace during what I call "Pooh Fest"... the fantastic character lunch I had there.

This time, I'm looking to do another buffet or two. I'm pretty sure I'll try Boma, but was looking to find a few opinions on other possibilities, whether at resorts or in the parks.

Thanks!

Richard

Haven't been to all,the one DW and I really liked was The Garden Grille at the Land in Epcot. It is served all you can eat at your table.Everything was hot and tasty I loved the Catfish.:earsboy: :earsgirl:

We like Cape May because of the steamed clams. For the most part the balance of the buffet is the same as most of the other for dinner.

Did not care for LTT which is family style. Do not care for roasted pressed turkey breast or the stuffing. Being from Pennsylvania I'm used to the Pennsylvania Potato Filling.

Also did not care for the meal at the Garden Grill. I'm not a catfish fan or a fan of everything being served in a skillet.

Hope you like Boma's -- majority of the posts love it, but my tastebuds are not as adventurous as other peoples.

While Chef Mickey's is a lot of fun, I think the quality of their food went down hill.

My suggestion -- just check out the menus to see what you would like. Everyone has different tastes.

We have had several buffets at WDW. The ones we like the most are Chef Mickeys at CR, Crystal Palace at MK, Donald's Breakfastasaurus at AK, and of the family fare type (table service) we like Cinderella's Royal Table at MK and the Princess Storybook breakfast at Norway in EPCOT, O'Hanas at the Poly, Artist Pointe for breakfast at WL and Olivia's for Breakfast at OKW.

We did not like the Garden Grill. It is served in one pan all together, both the meats and the sides. There was not enough of some items at our table for everyone to get what they wanted and the server didn't refill often enough to make up for that. Also, the restaurant is spinning (slowly) and I don't like to eat and still feel like I'm on an amusement ride. There just are too many places to chose from to eat there.

I also do not like Hollywood and Vine in MGM. Not as much selection and the quality seemed lesser, but the price was pretty much the same as the other buffets. Same thing for Park Fare at GF.

Have a great time!

We were very impressed with Cape May. There's a lot more there than seafood and the food seemed quiet fresh.

I love the breakfast buffets at the Crystal Palace and Boma. Good food and great setting.

Trail's End was OK. It had simple, fresh food and we left satisfied. The price is reasonable and it's nice to spend time at Fort Wilderness.

We are also big buffet fans. I think we are trying 2 different buffets this trip.

One I heard that is good is Trail's End Buffet at Wilderness Campgrounds. Prices are really good and I guess the food is even better. They share a kitchen with the Hoop-dee-doo Revue so it is the same hearty fare. Lots of chicken and potatoes. We may even try the breakfast buffet there.

Another option is the resturant at Norway in Epcot. I think it is called Aukerhus. They have a wonderful buffet. But I am not sure if they are still serving it as a buffet. I heard rumours that they were changing from the buffet to a regular menu. Try it is very good if they are still a buffet. Lots of seafood and meats, cold salads and roasts of different kinds. Have great desserts.

'Ohana's is a all you can eat - style restaurant. The servers will bring it to your table. It is in the Poly. We are trying that one also.

Another one we are trying is Hollywood and Vine. It is a buffet. I haven't heard too many bad things about it. So we are trying it for a Fantasmic Dinner.

Heard Cape May is good. It is at the Beach Club and also Boma. We did not care for it. May have been an off nite for us. The wait staff was wonderful. The food was ok. It is very loud there. And we had a kid in the booth next to us that would have put Denis the Menace to shame.

Have fun. Bon appetit!

Our family had eaten at Akershus in Sept and loved it. DS and I ate at there in May and we were not impressed. now they serve your meat to you at the table and you can get your sides from the cold buffet. They took away many of the sides and the option to try different meats. For the 2 of us, it was $58 and we left hungry and in sticker shock. It used to be one of the little gems of Epcot, not to mention WDW, but we will not be eating there again.

Speaking of buffets, the best breakfast bargain on property is Trails End in the campground. Delicious food, well prepared and bargain priced. What more could you ask?

IMHO, I have never had a problem with Garden Grill (food was great) or Crystal Palace. My next trip we are adding on H&V Fantasmic Dinner package.

We loved Cape May, also. When we were there a few weeks ago they had clams, mussels, peel and eat shrimp (boiled, I think, but VERY tasty (worth the hassle of tearing off those little legs!), baked fish (it was different the two nights we were there but delicious each time), prime rib, chicken, and some other foods I didn't eat (because all I ate was the clams, mussels, shrimp and fish!)

They also had great cornbread and desserts!

IMO, for under 25.00/person it was a great value. A good seafood meal would cost you at least 15.00, more likely closer to 20.00, plus dessert would add another 5.00. And this is all you can eat!

If you like clams, etc., then you MUST go to Cape May!!!

Definately try Boma! I am not a big buffet fan, but this one was incredible! Lots of standard options, plus new things to try. :)

We just got back Sunday and the two buffets we ate at were Boma (AKL) and Hollywood and Vine (MGM.) We had tried Boma before and loved it and it is still wonderful! The prime rib is great and the salads and desserts we love. Hollywod and Vine was awsome and we will go again. The Fantasmic dinner deal was great. They had several salads, tomato and mot. cheese with basil, flank steak in a red wine sauce (wonderful), Pork loin with apples, pasta with shrimp and scallops, Sasauge and peppers, Salmon in a nice sauce, corn casserole, green beans with garlic and shallots, sweet potatoes in a root beer sauce (very tasty) and more! They had a dessert bar as well. We walked over to Trails End since we were staying at WL the end of the week, but the buffet smelled like very strong fish and it was packed. We checked out FW and headed back to WL.

You said it all, JoeMikeB. I love breakfast food, and I have not been able to find a breakfast buffet (or any other meal, for that matter) which can come close to Trail's End for the money.

My MIL and FIL live in Las Vegas (since 1987) and we spend atleast a week there every year and know of the great buffets and fine food.

WDW has some top notch buffets our favorites are the Boma (breakfast and dinner) and Cape May Cafe (dinner). Our only mistake was not trying the Boma until the end of our first stay at AKL (2002). We had dinner on our last night and enjoyed the food so much we made a breakfast PS for the next morning. On our trip this year (2003) we made 2 PS for breakfast and 1 PS for dinner. The Cape May Cafe is our favorite spot for seafood at WDW. We have dinner there on our night to view Illuminations. It allows us to have a good meal and recharge before we scout out our spot in the WS.

Hollywood and Vine is my favorite by far, also 1900 park fare at GF is pretty darn good, as well as the Garden Grill at the land. In fact I have never met a buffet I didn't like!

Another vote for Boma! Even if we're not staying at AK we make Boma a must! The soup lady remembering me ever time we go might have something to do with it! I happened to share a family version of Italian wedding soup (seaweed soup as we called when we were kids) with her. There is an abundance of semi-exotic tastes abailable and also some more tame selections.

Let us not forget DESSERTS!!

I love the Zebra Domes and especially the Banana Bread Pudding!!:bounce:

we always go to trail's end at least once ( my husband would go every morning too if he had his way! I'm not such a big fan of buffets) the food has always been good if "normal"( meaning not exotic) but the veggies in particular have always been good and not overcooked. and the price can not be beat. plus last time we were there they had a guitar player ( I think it was later in the evening)

we did mainly breakfast buffets. hands down, crystal palace was the BEST! with cape may coming in a close second.

chef mickey was ok, and i guess it is just me, but CRT was a real let down this year (not really a buffet, i guess).
at both chef mickey and CRT, the food seems so 'rush cooked'. runny eggs, doughy pancakes, etc.
