? re: Atlantis Submarine Expedition in Cozumel

Has anyone taken this excursion? We have it booked for our 1/15/05 cruise. Curious to hear reviews.

Also, we are going to have a wheelchair with us. I know that you can't wheel someone on but can you fold up the wheelchair and bring it on, or do they have a place where you can leave the wheelchair? My mother can walk, but not long distances. She's good enough that we can help her onto the sub, I'm just concerned about the chair itself.

We've done this before and are very glad we did. I would suspect the best thing to do with the wheelchair is make arrangements to secure it at the building where you board the boat that takes you out to the sub. It is a fairly large office/store for selling the excursions and souveniers. I might suggest you run this by DCL, they are intimately aware of all their excursions and monitor them to ensure everyone is happy and rec'd what was expected.

We did this excursion in June. You take a taxi to the Atlantis terminal, then from there you board a ferry that takes you out to the sub. The sub switches passengers, and the ferry returns to the terminal for the next excursion group. The sub has kind of narrow stairs going down to the seating area, but as a 'plus-sized' person, I didn't have a problem. DH and DS wanted to go on this one. I was less than thrilled at the idea at first, but once I was on the sub I had a great time. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm glad I did it, but wouldn't do it again.
