Doing the happy dance as we're about 48 hours away from going to the World- woot woot!
Anyways, doing online check-in and it said I was allowed up to 2 room requests. Well, we want near-ish to the pool/lobby and Sunset Savannah. I had read you basically just need to request near the lobby and all of the above is pretty much a given. However, when I clicked on room requests, it was only allowing me to choose between Pembe and Sunset Savannahs. So I clicked on Sunset... However I have also read that could mean we're still a very long walk away from the lobby. We have kids, kids love the pool...would like to be near it.
Okay, so I call Disney agents... A very nice lady (Lakesha) answered and said that she *thought* that lobby requests were a 'preferred' room and that means an additional upcharge...??? Now, I had static on my line and had to ask her to speak up so I could hear her so I asked her to repeat herself and she said the same thing. I asked did "preferred" mean another upcharge in price and she said "Yes". So I told her I knew that we had a savannah room booked and knew there was a price difference there, but had never heard of being charged even more to be near the lobby?
Anyhow, I explained to her I didn't want to pay even more for a "near the lobby" room on top of the Savannah charge so she checks with Kidani through her computer and says that there are no preferred rooms available but that she put down an additional room request (in addition to Sunset Savannah request) for something "as close to the lobby as possible"...since those rooms weren't available...????
We've never stayed there...(so excited!) so this is all new to me. Unless something has changed or I had not come across it in reading- is this new? You have to pay more for near lobby/elevator rooms and those are now called preferred rooms? (Again, several times during the phone call I had to ask her to speak up but I did ask her to repeat herself in regard to the "preferred rooms" bit.)
Thanks!
