Re-activating 2016 Freestyle Cups

So our second trip is quickly approaching, and last trip we were unaware that the Freestyle cups could be reactivated....so here we are with 3 souvenir cups. If we pack one of them from last August, will we be able to activate them for use again, or will we be required to buy a new cup?

We were at Universal in December 2016. We took our freestyle cup from 2014 with us. We checked ahead of time with customer service to see if we could re-charge the cup. They said as long as the RFID chip was still readable, there was no problem using it again. We re-charged it three days in a row and never had an issue with it. When you approach any of the places that see the freestyle cup, just hand them your cup and tell them you want it re-charged. I think it cost us around $7.50 with tax for each day.
I have heard that others have trouble with the RFID chip not being readable if it has been washed a lot in the dishwasher?
