RCI wait list came through!!!!

I am super jacked up. I logged into the DVC member site and viola, our Mexico wait list came through for next winter. Got a one bedroom (they call it a Luxury Suite), Sunday to Sunday, for 160 points! It's not an AI, thank goodness (hate those) and I am just so excited. The resort is playagranderesort.com Our first choice was Zihua, Mexico but we adore Cabo too. I am so grateful as I wanted to prove to DH that we would use our DVC for more than Disney.

Just make sure they have the right dates/year. I put in for Hawaii July 2010 and this past March and was so excited to see that it came through in April. I called to just make sure that it came through and found it came through for July 2009 (even though they said my request clearly states 2010). Still waiting...but just wanted to give you a heads up to make sure the dates are right.

I'm so happy for you. I need to learn how to use my points for RCI. Was it hard to do? How long have you been waitlisted? The resort looks really nice. I had this idea in my head that RCI was run down but I guess I was wrong.

The process was confusing at first. I am sure some of their resorts are run down but this was the only non AI in Cabo I really liked. The trip advisor reviews were good too. PM Dean here on the DIS if you have questions, he's the go-to timeshare expert. I think I have been wait listed for about a month. I chose like 7 different weeks for 1 property in Cabo and 1 property in Zihua and Cabo came through first. Call MS and ask them to slowly walk you through the process. I spoke with a CM name Steve, with a NY accent, who was terrific!

And get this, RCI just emailed me a customer service survey to take and Disney hasn't even emailed me my reservation confirmation.

Thanks! I checked out some personal photos on Trip Advisor and they look even better. I really had resolved myself to not getting our reservation. I hope it's as nice as it looks. I don't really need 5 stars but when a place doesn't match the photos, it bugs me! If it sucks, then show honest sucky photos!

We're in Cabo in Jan/Feb 2010 and this was one of the resorts we looked at. We have 3 units booked over 2 weeks with 2 at the Grand Mayan (RCI back to back in San Jose del Cabo and a 3 BR at the Hacienda Del Mar that hits in between those dates. Fortunately the costs were low enough as to make the wasted days not an issue. This would have been 1849 points through DVC.

I am a little sad that Cabo has got so touristy since our last visit. They have an Applebee's.

Just wanted to add that our flights to Cabo from SLC dropped by half this morning!!! They were $528 non-stop PP RT and are now $253!! I bought them first thing this morning. Only $506 total!!

Congratulations! After our trip this August I'm thinking we should try an RCI resort(we are empty-nesters)-we loved Vero and HHI and try not to go WDW more than every other year. Can't wait to read your report when you return (it'll probably be snowing here in PA so I can live vicariously through your trip!).

It will be snowing here too so the thought of missing a week of it makes me jolly! I would LOVE to try Vero Beach one day!
