My MIL booked us a week at the Sheraton Vistana with an RCI exchange. The paper we were sent said it is going to be a 2 bedroom, but the last time we did a RCI exchange it said 2 bedroom and we only got a one room. It was no big deal last time but this time we will have our son and really want the 2 rooms.
Does the Sheraton stick with what is on our receipt or do they just give RCI what they have left over? With a small party of 3 I'm afraid that the will give us a smaller room!
Has anyone done this and what was your out come?
Thanks!

I didn't thing anything in the SVR was 1-room.

a 2-bedroom is just that 1 villa with 2-bedrooms, 2 baths, livingroom, kitchen.

did you ask last time for the newest ones? they are smaller and they might have a studio?

if it helps on the first trip we were a party of 2, on this last trip I was a party of 1 - still got the 2-bedroom villa.

I can only think you upgraded your room at the cost of a 2-bedroom.

We were at a different resort last time we got the one bedroom, when they took us to the room it was really small and we said that we were supposed to have the bigger 2 bedroom and they pretty much said bad luck, it is an exchange. I'm hoping that it was only that resort that felt that way. I'm sure on this web site someone has done the exchange at the Sheraton!

The problem with the exchange the last time was a major failure by the other resort, and possibly by RCI. :sad2: You should get a 2 bedroom on this exchange if that is what is on your paperwork. You might want to confirm directly with Vistana about a week before your trip, but you shouldn't have any problems.

Regarding the prior exchange, your mother-in-law should have taken up the issue with RCI. They will sometimes refund the used week if an exchange week doesn't meet the basic confirmed requirements.

My mother exchanged into Vistana via RCI back in '98 for our sons' first trip. We were given a 2bdrm, exactly as it stated on the confirmation. It was two seperate bedrooms, plus a pull out sofa. I agree with the OP. If you are in doubt, call Vistana ahead of time.

I just remembered this, however. When I was growing up, my parent's first exchange through RCI somehow was botched--we were supposed to get a 2 bd and they were giving us something less. My parents did not agree to that and the resort gave us two 1 bedroom units to compensate. Your MIL should definitely called RCI on the mistake. You need to speak up, if you are not satisfied.

On the plus side--we really liked Vistana when we stayed there! ;)

I've never had this happen in many exchanges. There is a 24hr RCI phone number, I believe it's printed on the exchange paperwork. If you are supposed to get a 2br, the resort MUST give you a 2br. If not, RCI will take care of it.

Things like sections, particular unit, or views are not guaranteed, but the unit size certainly is.

There are some 1 bedrooms which are the lockoffs to those that own the 2 bedroom lockoffs (owners can split the lockoffs and stay in one side and rent out the other if they choose....or rent both sides if they so choose) and they're located only in the Lakes and Cascades.
But as others stated, you should DEFINITELY get a 2 bedroom. I don't think it'll be a problem for you. Call and confirm with Vistana just for peace of mind.
