Hi there,

I was just reading a thread that stated that we could book RCI points for New York. My husband, daughter (8) and I just booked a trip to go down there from July 2nd to July 12th. And I must admit I never even thought of using my DVC points. I have about 94 points from this year.

Any thoughts on how many points it would be for 10 days or suggestions on hotels/pricing stategies? We have used priceline in other venues but I must admit, Canadian in HOT New York in the summer I think we will need a pool and am worried about not getting one.

Any thoughts, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Not much in the way of pools in NYC. The timeshare in manhattan is manhattan club. The rooms are VERY small. Some interior rooms, once the sofa is pulled out, you can't walk in the living room. Some of the better view rooms are roomier. All are 1 bedrooms. It's up near central park. Decent location. I don't know how it works with points but that is one of the timeshares that has a 1 in 3 year rule (meaning you can only go 1 time in three years) It's probably not worth the points, but no hotels in the city are less than 100.00 per night.

Thanks for the information. I was afraid that pools might be an issue. Hmm, I guess we will just wait a bit to see what the economy does for sure. I knew it was going to be expensive but when I saw priceline quotes for $300+++ I thought there has to be a better way.

I just spoke with MS about points for Manhattan Club...18 pts/night Sun-Thurs, 35 pts/Fri. & Sat. I think those are very fair pts. per night. I plan on reserving two weekday nights...36 pts. total for a one bedroom. These rooms go for close to $400/night. There is only one season for this place...red.

Le Parker Meridean has a very nice roof top pool. Located just south of Central Park. Easy walk to Times Square and theater district. Pricey but about the same as all other hotels in mid town.
