We used our DVC points to stay 5 nights that the RCI Wyndam Nashville Resort.
We had a great time. The room was wonderful. Since they were damaged by the floor earlier this year the room was new. We stayed in a one bed room deluxe suite. Had a full kitchen, dinning room that sat 6 people, a bathroom that had a jacuzzi, washer and dyer. Everything was brand new. They had only been reopened less than 7 weeks. Two weeks prior to the flood they had already started rehabing all of the rooms. So no matter what room/floor you are on everything has been replaced. OMG the bathtowels were great. I am 5'2" and when I wrapped the towel around me it was long enough to go from arm pits to the floor! The balcony is huge. It was at least 10X 20 feet. Had 4 chairs and 2 tables and plenty of floor space to spare.
The only down side was that on day one they called 3 times in the morning trying to get us to attend their timeshare meeting. We simply took the phone off the hook and no other problems.

Thanks for the update on Wyndham Nashville. We own Wyndham points in the smoky's and I was wondering how Nashville looked after the flooding of the Cumberland River and subsequent redo. It's good to know it's back in great shape.

Thank you for confirming that -- contrary to conventional wisdom here -- there is such a thing as a really good trade, ones that in some cases deliver properties that don't just exceed expectations but even give DVC a run for its proverbial money. I mean, come on, when was the last time anyone here regailed the bath towel experience at a Disney villa? ;)

Hey sometimes it the little things that count and having a good quality bath towel is rare!

Nashville itself looks great concidering what happened. The only tailtell signs were the house behind the resort, the ones that sit on the banks of the river, were all destroyed. And in some form of being rehabed. As well as the closing of Opry Mills! Missed not eating the Rainforest and shopping at the Apple Barn store. The Opry hotel is suppose to reopen in less than 35 days.

The problem is not finding a nice property to trade into, it's that you are using in essence a Mercedes to make the trade. In other words, what it costs upfront in cash to buy DVC and the maintenance fees are not cheap compared to what you could use to do the same thing. Example: We just bought more resale Wyndham points for $261 total on Ebay.

An occasional trade using DVC wouldn't be bad if you didn't want to mess with owning something else. But no way would I use DVC on a regular basis as a trader. There are cheaper ways (and better - direct online access) for trades. Something really neat that Wyndham does is reduce the points requirements within 60 days of check-in (non peak time for the most part). It allows you to really stretch your Wyndham points and make them go farther.

I'm so glad Wyndham Nashville is up and running again after the historic flood event that Nashville, TN, suffered. My mom has never been to the grand ole opry or the old Ryman either and I'm planning on booking this resort for a long weekend to take mom to the opry. Best of all, it's not a bad drive from Indy.
