Has anyone seen openings for DVC through RCI in December? I was told 7 months, but haven't seen anything at this point. I am really hoping that I haven't missed it.

You'll probably get better responses at TUG. And if you are a paying member, you can look at the sightings board.

I don't think you have missed it yet, but you should do an ongoing search. Not a whole lot is being posted on the website and what is goes really fast.

You really need to be looking daily yourself by getting up early, like 6 am or before eastern to give you the best chance of success.

Thanks! I have one, but I am not fully trusting of technology haha

I have been checking 3-4 times a day, even on the weekends, but nothing has opened yet. I have been checking for the past 3 months. My husband says I have a problem:blush:

I too am an RCI member and DVC member. Two weeks ago there was some rooms at OKW and SSR available for late Aug and Early Sept. Have not seen anything past that.

Since the DVC rooms are already pretty booked up for that time, I would not think there would be any deposits for that time. Someone has to transfer into RCI in order for DVC to "deposit" a week into RCI. They can not deposit something that is not available to book thru the DVC website, ie. Already sold out.

Also keep in mind when DVC members "deposit" inventory into RCI for nightly stays they go into the cash side of RCI not the weeks or points side. You can book DVC for cash thru RCI for 3 or 4 nights. As as RCI member I think this whole aspect to RCI is a scam, they take the best resorts and make them cash only ways to stay.

OH yeah forgot to mention. Why don't you set up an ongoing search for your dates so if something comes available you will get it? Say Dec 1- Dec 22 and add all the DVC resort codes to the list. If you need help call the 1--800 number and they RCI person can do it for you. I have done this before and it works out well. Note that DVC in Dec will be like 35-45 RCI trading points.

I have an ongoing search in progress. We have stayed DVC through RCI twice, and is great! Where else can you stay, on disney property, for $199 a week?

I've seen late November.

We were able to get an Oct week on the points side of RCI about 4-6 weeks ago. So far I have only seen weeks into Nov. I think Dec should be coming anytime.

Don't you have to pay the $95 fee as well?

Nope. It is $95 for an RCI resort, or $199 for a DVC.

That is the same I have been seeing. I just wanted to make sure I haven't missed anything. We are still on weeks, so I hope that isn't going to hurt us. Thanks for your help!

To expand on this idea for the benefit of others, the costs involved include:
* ownership costs of the external timeshare deposited to RCI (purchase, maintain fees)
* annual RCI membership fee
* RCI exhange fee (the $199 referenced by the OP)
* DVC inbound exchange fee, if booking DCV at WDW, $95

The sum of these individual costs will vary guest to guest depending on the first two items (external timeshare ownership and RCI annual membership fees).

This is my understanding as well, but OP said no $95 fee for a DVC exchange?

Maybe their past exchanges weren't into WDW properties or perhaps they overlooked the $95 fee as it was rolled into other costs charged to their room card (dining, store purchases, etc.).

I have exchanged into DVC before. If we exchange into a NON-DVC, it cost $95. If we exchange into a DVC, it cost $199. I am exchanging RCI into DVC, so it cost me $199. I apologize for confusion that I created, however, I was not clear on it, because it wasn't the purpose of my thread. Thank you for your help!

Leleluvsdis, DVC charges $95 to inbound RCI exchange guests when booking DVC at WDW. This is above and beyond the fee you pay to RCI.

This is correct. I was just on the phone this morning with RCI confirming this.

I won't share the reps opinion of that $95 charge.;)
