How about a thread listing a few interesting RCI exchanges to help those who have DVC points at risk of expiring? Find a few listings that might be "drive to" destinations from your location and post them here! Let's see how many destinations we can explore?

My starting point: Southern California; willing to drive up to ~8 hours
Three current options offered by RCI through my DVC account:

1. SoCal Coastal, 7 nights, 2BR Unit, July 2021, for 260 DVC points!

We exchanged into the Wyndham Flagstaff over New Years a couple years back. It was an excellent vacation! So much to do and see nearby ... trails to explore by foot or by 4WD, Grand Canyon by rail (a lovely day trip!), National Parks, etc. We loved it and hope to return!

OK, what can you find?

So, I'm going to ignore the "drive to" bit for a moment, and mention this exchange I just confirmed for February...2023.

Hotel on the Cay #1597
Christiansted, VI USA
Hotel 4(2) No Kitchen

This is an older property, with about 50-odd hotel rooms. The rooms have a half-size fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. The pool is out of commission and has been for a while with no signs that will change. The rooms are worn, and could use a refurbishment. There is no restaurant. No hot tub.

So, why on earth would anyone take it? Because the property is on its very own small island (Protestant Cay) a few hundred yards off Chistiansted in St. Croix. The hotel has a boat that shuttles guests back and forth between the Cay and town, running every ten minutes. The Cay has a lovely sand beach, all the rooms have balconies with water views, and the island and surrounding water has plenty of birds, turtles, and fish. One of the more interesting snorkel sites for a coral reef is nearby at the Buck Island Reef National Monument.

And, while I do have a passport, US residents don't need one to visit.

This probably isn't the very best use of DVC points in RCI, and it might not even be in the set that DVC owners can see. But if you can it is a non-Gold Crown studio, so 110 points year-round for a week. Yes, renting it is probably a better deal, but I suspect there are worse vacations you could take.
