I've had a very exciting and frustrating couple of days.

First the exciting part:

After submitting my search request through RCI back in April 2013 for an April 2014 week 2-BR at any resort, we finally were matched with Disney Saratoga Springs! YAY! We will be down during the Easter week.

Now the frustrating news (or at least the "let me save you some time" news). I tried (and tried and tried) to get a confirmation number that would work with MyDisneyExperience but every number RCI gave me was unable to be used with the online system.

After calling Disney Reservations several times and RCI, I finally got a (kind-of) answer. As this is my first time using RCI points to book a Disney week, i didn't realize that all arrangements are actually handled by DVC. not by central reservations.

DVC told me to give it up to a week (I booked this on Thursday) and they should be able to provide me a confirmation number and associated services.

Just an FYI, therefore, that DVC is the best place to coordinate, not central reservations.

This is correct. Member Services is the only place that can tell you the 12-digit Disney reservation number for your week. The process works like this: DVCMC chooses the set of weeks they will deposit to RCI, and whether those weeks will go to RCI Weeks or RCI Points. This happens about once a week, give or take. RCI then makes them available for exchange in the spacebank. As people confirm/cancel exchanges or add/modify/cancel guest certificates, RCI tells Member Services about these changes. That also happens about once a week. Once Member Services knows that you have exchanged into a particular week, they will verify the lead guest names and a few other bits of information, and they will then tell you the reservation number.

You also have to call MS to add on the guest names for the room, and I think you have to call them to book Magical Express as well. Anything else you can do via MDE. I added my family members to my Friends & Family list before calling Member Services for an upcoming exchange, and added the guest names on the first call. When I linked the reservation to my MDE account 15 minutes later, MDE matched the guest names to my F&F list. It was all surprisingly easy.

Call DVC on Tuesday, that's when they usually get the info, they should be able to give you the DVC reservation # at that time. After you have that, it should be fairly easy.

Thanks to all! And sorry for the mis-post. Thanks to whoever moved it...
