You should be able to but the trade power for such a short notice will not be that great. Still it's a way to extend the points which can be a nice option. I'd suggest starting a search right away in this situation so start your research ASAP if you haven't already. Even if you change it later, better to have an ongoing search. Put the Hilton on Oahu or similar if nothing else.
You'd have to book and travel by 2 years from the start of the week deposited, assuming 2 years and 3 months in this example. Since an exchange request is best if set up by 2 years out to give you the most options and best chance of success, this is whey I suggested to get going right away. The reason I said to start a search, any search, is because it appears that RCI puts emphasis on when you started the search even if modified later. With II anything at or under 60 days was short notice, that is 45 days with RCI. If you do this, ask DVC to deposit a unit as late as possible to give you the most power. Also keep the exact week in mind we don't know yet if the exact week will affect trade power with RCI. It normally does with both RCI & II but in DVC's case it likely didn't in most cases. The later the week, the longer time you have as well. But you do have to start the exchange by the date of the week deposited.
It's possible that RCI will use "average trade power" for DVC deposits---rather than have a single, specific week determine your trade power, it will be averaged across all similarly-sized weeks that have been deposited by DVC. This allows the developer to deposit periodically, and then "settle up" from time to time to make sure that the deposit rate is appropriate, without having to do a lot of penny-ante bookkeeping on either side for each deposit.
Wyndham works this way by default, but you can ask for a specific week to be deposited---sometimes this week is better than average, and sometimes it is not.
We'll just have to see what happens when the thing finally gets going.
For deposit first it's only for a full week, usually 160 or 270 points (HIGH season 1 or 2 BR). One can also do stays as short as 2 days but those are instant exchanges. Most exchanges will be instant matches or full week ongoing request first where you only give up your points if an exchange is found. Deposit first is generally when you'll lose points and are looking for a way to salvage them to a degree.
