Raytheon's, “The Sum of All Thrills” at Epcot.

My question,,

Have you rode this ride yet ? Which version did you choose to do ?
And what is your over all opinion of the ride ?

We rode the fighter jet version in October '09. I really liked it, but a couple things could be better. Cartoony graphics could be improved, and not a ride for the claustraphobic or, how can I say this without offending, the plus sized visitors. But overall, I liked it alot and really like the robotic arms for simulators.

The fact that my son works for Raytheon has nothing to do with my evaluation. In fact, after we rode it, I reported my disappointment with the graphics to him and he passed the word to the appropriate department. I doubt anything will come of it, though, since Raytheon is not a computer gaming company.

The TCD gang has ridden Sum of All Thrills many, many times.

The TCD DD's started right with the fighter jet. They put in as many inversions as they could, and they have loved it from day one.

TCD started with the bobsled. IIRC, my first ride was named the Enchanted Snowflake, or something manly like that (you get to name your ride).

After experiencing the bobsled, TCD graduated to the roller coaster, and now TCD does the fighter jet just like the big kids.

It is a fun attraction.

Start slow and easy. You will see that this ride operates smoothly, and even when you amp up the intensity, it is still pretty tame.

Have fun.

I've got to get to the parks more often. The first I heard about “The Sum of All Thrills” is when I read this thread.
Next thing you're going to tell me is that River Country is gone.

I kinda have the opinion of a cross between jims and TCD's post. I really liked it, my son wasnt as impress'd as I was.

I'm taking your advice and try it this weekend.
Also hope to stop by the Fort afterwards to say hi to any Disers I see. I'll ask them how the fishing is.

DH and I have done the sum of all thrills - both of us the jet with as many inversions as possible. It was a lot of fun! It is definitely something that we will be doing again in July.

I have been teaching a Creative Engineering Class to my Homeschool enrichment class this school year where we are building and designing amusement park rides and I wished that I could have brought my class with me!

Is this ride new? I dont think Ive ever noticed it.

Yup, it is new. I think it opened bout Sept, 09,,,or there abouts.

There are 3 different versions of the ride you choose from, Jet Fighter,,Roller Coaster,,and Bob Sled. After you choose the ride, you help design the rides speed, path, etc.

I'm offended at that!

on southwest we are "customers of size" (at disney we should be "guests of size" (gotta leave the 'plus' out of it)

I heard "customer of size" for the first time in a conversation I had with another guest at Hollywood Studio last week. He used it in the same context as yours - by Southwest Airlines, and he was the "customer of size." I asked him if he questioned Southwest if customers who were underweight received a discount? One would think it would work in reverse, wouldn't one?

I think that's just a tad politically incorrect in an environment where everyone insists upon political correctness and not singling out any one particular segment of society.

it is a general policy that larger customers (referred to as the aforementioned name, or c.o.s.) pay for two seats for each flight. That way they are not "encroaching" on the person in the seat next to them. The armrests raise so it is also better/much more comfortable for this customer also. Basically a win-win situation for the 2 people and the company doesn't lose funds for that extra seat. The term is as p.c. as possible & I believe it was actually larger employees who came up with it. I'd rather be called this than anything with the word "plus" in it.

Uh, unless that's an old photo, and assuming that's you in the photo, you don't appear to be a plus sizer or whatever we're supposed to call over weight people these days.

Thanks! Those are about 1 1/2 years old. Unfortunately I have gained an incredible amount of weight since then, especially for some who is vertically challenged/height impared. (now THOSE terms are PC).

I tried it out tonight. Almost a thumbs up. Way to much preride stuff for just a 90 second ride. Jim has a valid point regarding the graphics. The concept is good but the execution falls a little short. I would have three levels of ride for each vehicle so that you select whatever you want with one press of the button, add realistic 3d graphics, and a longer duration. The seat was snug for me and I'm not a large man by any measure. But I think the actual quality of the ride is very good.
