If I pay to go see Raya in the theater, do I need to pay again to watch it at home on disney plus, or is there a code or something from my paid ticket?

Definitely gonna watch it next weekend. Trying to decide the if the benefit of theater viewing wins out, or the opportunity to rewatch on disney plus. If there is a code or something that would be the best of both worlds!

Theater!! The theaters need patrons to stay open. They’re socially distanced with cleaning protocols, movie theater popcorn, slushees, candy...
And teenagers who need $$ from their part time jobs. Go to the movies.

I have been debating but I am leaning toward going to the theater to see this one. I've reakky been looking forward to it! I may not go opening weekend, but we'll see.

To the OP, there is no cross promotion for theater tickets, though I actually think that's a good idea, maybe for a premium price. It might motivate more theater goers. Disney does have the Disney Movie Insiders program where you can earn points for rewards on theater tikets for Disney movies, so you might check that out.

Only problem is it costs $30 on Dis+. Is that a purchase so we can watch it over and over again?

If you pay for it you can watch it as much as you want as long as you remain subscribed to Disney+. It will hit D+ in a few months anyway, so at that point it will be included like everything else.

What I can't figure out is Disney+ decided to make Raya And The Last Dragon a pay to watch movie like Mulan was originally rather than for free like they did with Onward and Soul? It seems that Disney+ wants to make money by turning themselves into a Pay-Per-View like streaming service and since kids haven't returned to school and families are staying home these days Disney+ should offer new movies for free rather having to pay for them. After all people got to see Soul and Onward for free when they came out

My guess is that they are still testing. They don't have that many movies to release during the pandemic and they need to make up for lost sales in theater tickets, but also a lot of merchandise.
Mulan was a logical first to try pay per account. They had nostalgia on their side. Onward and Soul were new stories. Around the world, Onward was available in more movie theaters in Europe before lockdowns started again. They had that money, knew that Onward was an okay movie. Not a hit, but a decent movie. It wasn't good enough to ask a fee for.
I think they didn't do Soul because Soul was a risky movie with the deeper and darker themes. And you see the responses are really on both ends of the spectrum. Some people absolutely loved it, some thought it was incredibly boring.

I think and hope they have a lot of faith in that Raya will do well, and it will be the next step to see how a completely new movie does with a pay per account.

With the parks and the cruiselines closed, the money has to come from somewhere! :)

Onward was actually the last movie I saw in theaters before they started shutting everything down. It did have a theatrical run and I think was added to Disney+ early as a bonus, but it at least had a chance to make some money. It actually made $141,950,121 at the box office - way short of what it could have made, but it did okay really.

I'm happy waiting the 90 days to watch this free. My local Cinemarks aren't carrying it, my Regals are closed, and I'm not paying D+ more money than I already do vs just waiting a few months...

Yeah, I don't like the early access. I mean, I get it, but I think it should be stand-alone from Disney+ at that price. It's not really a bad deal if a group/family is going to watch it, cheaper than a couple of movie tickets, but it's going to be on D+ after a few months anyway. I really want to see this in theaters - here that is an option. I haven't been since the Pandemic started. In fact, the last movie I saw was Onward, about a week before things really went crazy.

Our theaters aren’t open and I wouldn’t be comfortable going anyway right now. I don’t have a problem with $30 for at home access, it’ll be a fun thing this weekend after we’re done discussing wandavision.

Same for me. I'm totally fine with paying $30 (I'd happily pay more if they'd just give me Black Widow already!). Our local Cimemark is now permanently closed, plus I'm still not sure I'd be ready to go to a theater yet AND I'm supposed to be picking up a new puppy on Friday, so staying home works better for me, anyway.
We paid for Mulan and I hadn't even planned to. I had no intentions of seeing it in the theater and don't even like the live action remakes, but we got bored and did it anyway.

We saw Tom & Jerry this weekend in the theater, and my DS is counting the days until Raya comes out. I just hope we can get a reservation!

Deadly pandemic causing virus, stale popcorn, over priced tickets, dirty seats VS my own home, better popcorn, $30 for entire family, and our(somewhat) clean couch.

Im leaning slightly toward Disney+.

The theater I went to a couple days ago had fresh popcorn and the seats were not only extremely clean but more comfortable than my seats at home. But then, I don’t have automatic reclining buttons at home. If I had to complain it would be because instead of Twizzlers, they had Red Vines, which are fine I guess. Stupid Covid-related candy choices.

onward didn’t hit Disney plus until like a month after it came out in the theaters. Soul was a Christmas present.

What I think will happen is that in a month I can bet if Raya And The Last Dragon does well Disney+ will eventually lower the price for Raya And The Last Dragon and have it listed for free. I mean families want to watch a new movie on Disney+ for free not play a game of The Price Is Right which is what I think Disney+ is trying to do
