Hello everyone, I'm back again trying to plan another trip to Disney. Hurricane Charlie really fouled up our vacation this past summer, so we thought we would give it another go in spring 2006.

I was wondering if anyone knew what discount AAA gives on Peak or Regular season rates? We are looking at going either end of Feb or very end of April. The difference between the two is only 10.00 a night, but could get more with the AAA savings. Thanks ahead for any replies :flower:

I booked through Magical Journeys, and long story made short, I was booking for 2006, but she accidentally quoted me for 2005. Anyway, she said the "rack" rate was $69 +tax per night (preferred site) and with AAA it would be $58 +tax, so a savings of $11 per night, and I believe that would have been regular season. What I am doing for our 2006 trip is this: she is booking us at the AAA rate (even though I am not a member) and she will continue to watch for better discounts. If none come along, I join AAA before I leave and take that rate. I am glad that they watch the codes/discounts for me so I don't have to, and they automatically apply the best one. :flower:

I just booked a "room only" campsite for May of 2006 (no package) and was told at the time (2 weeks ago) that the AAA rates weren't available for my resv. yet and to call back about this time next year. Did I get bad info or do they just do packages that much differently than room-only?? I had wanted to pay this off over the coming year, but as it is now, I will have to do so at the full rate. Would WDW actually give me a refund (!) if I can't get AAA rates until NEXT February, when in all likelyhood I would already be paid in full? :confused3

Mine was room only too. As I said in my post, I was accidentally quoted this year's rates, but it is nice to see them as a comparison, as I was told they won't change much for next year. So I am basing my figures for next year off of this year's with a slight increase. :flower: I mis-stated myself, I am actually "booked" at the rack rate, but as soon as any discounts come, they will be applied to my reservations, and if there is nothing better than AAA, I will join that before we go to at least get that discount.

HTH!

Oops!...sorry about that...I saw "Magical Journeys" and for some reason my mind thought "package." I'm wondering about the guy I spoke with, though, since he wouldn't even touch the subject of a AAA discount... Hmmm! :sad2:

We will be at WDW in Sept for 9 nites, and we got a AAA rate of 40.14 per nite pet loop site , that was for 3 adults. I thought that was pretty good.

AAA rates come out for the whole year at the same time. I think it is usually in august or september. Mousesavers might have the release dates for the past few years.

I would say don't wait until February of 2006 to look for AAA rates. They book up pretty quickly for popular times! Keep an eye on Mousesavers and the DIS resorts board and I'm sure you'll see when they become available.

Even if you have a reservation, if there are no campsites available at the AAA rate, they won't be able to give you a discount.

I think what they will do is move your payments over to a new AAA reservation (they don't really "apply the discount" to an existing reservation). You can keep the money on the account to pay for things at WDW. Or they would issue you a credit.

But you should be able to get the 2006 AAA rate in the Fall of 2005.

The 2006 rates are not available yet. Any bookings for 2006 will be at the 2005 rack rate. 2006 rates will come out later in 2005. Maybe June or July? It's hard to remember all the release dates!! :)

The guy you spoke with wouldn't talk about the discounts becvause they don't exist yet. As a matter of fact, the 2006 pricing dosn't exist yet either. Later i the year the 2006 pricing will be released and soon after that the AAA discounts will show up.

Gillian has given you good advice. Watch the Mousesavers.com site for the release of the 2006 pricing then the discounts.
