Rate a Chain Restaurant

Speaking of Chick-Fil-A.......

Does anyone else find it a bit strange that the employees have a "spiel", which is similar to the WDW cast members' infamous line, "Have a magical day"? Several months ago I went to 2 different CFAs in one week and there were 4 different employees who all said the same line. It was something like, "It was indeed my pleasure!", after any time any customer said "Thank you".

Do you have any idea how creepy it is hearing an 18 year-old say that?? :scared:

Not as creepy as it is for the poor 18 year old that spends 20 hours a week saying it....

Hmm, never tried chains. Whips maybe :rolleyes1

This whole mini-burger/slider thing disgusts me. Mini-burger fine, but no way near a slider. I miss WC. A couple years ago I was on a work trip to Chicago and there was a WC right down the street. I forget how many I bought for dinner that night but I was so stuffed!

Our Chic-fil-a does the same stuff. We joke about it at work all the time. My pleasure. It's been a pleasure. Pleasure!! :lmao:

Noodles & Company

I wanted to like this place. I really did. Conceptually I thought it was great: "Noodle dishes from around the world, made to order." How can you go wrong with that?

Well.....apparently you can. Every time I've gone to a N&C I've had a similarly bad experience.

--The noodles have always been severely undercooked in every dish I've tried. (Beyond al dente. One time they were even hard and chewy.)
--The flavors have always been bland. When you order a dish and you find yourself dumping Sriracha chili sauce on it, you know something's wrong.

I ain't afraid to admit I can be a chain gal. :rolleyes1

Course...here in podunk-ville NM, there ain't much selection. Applebee's...where all the "cool" kids hang out.

When we travel...I always tell the offspring we're not allowed to eat at any place we can eat at locally.

My fav chain?

Macaroni Grill. I love to be sung to in opera.

I'm pretty much with Jlewisinsyr on this topic as far as sticking with the fast food/counter service places. (Although I won't do Moe's. All of the Moes' have closed here, except for the one on OSU campus, which is where I witnessed one of the employees using a broom to "schooch" a rat out of the building. :scared: The place is filthy. Never again.)

One chain I'll openly admit to admiring is.......

CHIPOTLE

I appreciate the limited menu. You pretty much always know exactly what you're going to get before you get there. How can you beat Americanized Mexican comfort food? :confused3 And the quality of the food has never faltered. (And trust me.....I've been to a lot of Chipotles over the past 7 years.)

I even like their print/billboard ad campaigns. I'm usually not amused by billboards, but one of theirs actually made me laugh: It was a photo of a frowning pig looking into the lens, with a Chipotle restaurant off in the background. Next to the pig's head it said, "I am not coming back." :lmao: I'm sure PETA loved that one.

To top it off, their margaritas are cheap and really good. :thumbsup2

I think I heard somewhere that they're planning on changing up their restaurant interiors a bit. I admit I liked the "exposed metal and beech wood" look, but it's probably about time they switched it up just a little.

I don't do chick-fil-a anymore because of their anti-gay practices. I'm ashamed to say I kinda miss them. :guilty: There's one right next to my current workplace, and I used to get an iced tea every day. But I have PRINCIPLES, and that company stomps all over them, so I SHOWED THEM!!! I no longer spend $2 a day there! :rotfl2:

The BEST fast food chain in the USA, hands down, is .....

drum roll, please ......

POLO LOCO!!!!!

drool.

I did feel a bit out of place when I went to Chick-Fil-A. I haven't gone in a while. Their breakfast burritos were huge.....and tasty. :guilty:

I've never heard of Polo Loco. Is that a west coast chain? :confused3

Here in my burb that's only a hour long train ride from the city we don't have many chains. So everytime I go somewhere I envy the chains. Oh except for White Castles. We can get those once a month or so and we do!

Texas Roadhouse while in TX of course.
Sonic again in TX
WhataBurger in TX

Can you seee a trend? I love TX and have spent a lot of time there. And while we have a bunch of good restuarants here it's always the thing you can't have that you crave.

Actually, the chain started in Mexico, if the poster means El Pollo Loco. They are primarily West and Southwest, with locations in CA, NV, AZ, TX, CO, IL, GA, MA & CT.

DS had a band competition today. The entire busload of them went to What-A-Burger for lunch. :rotfl2:

I don't know if I have ever been to White Castle. I know when we lived in FL we went to Krystal, and that was nasty. I don't like Hardee's, either.

Yeah, citrus marinated, flame-grilled chicken, plantains, spanish side dishes .... YUM!! They're also in florida. But, alas, not NC. It's probably just as well. I'm saving money by dining in at the moment!

Honey, if you ever go to White Castle just make sure you don't have anywhere important to go the next day. :lmao:

I remember back in the day, we would go out drinking after work! You would wake up the next morning thinking "I really dont feel that bad!" :thumbsup2

Then you would make it to the kitchen and see the remains of White Castle sitting on the kitchen counter! :scared1:

They sell the burgers in the freezer section of Publix down here, but its just not the same!

Didn't the entire kitchen stink after leaving the bag in there? :confused3 I know if I go through the White Castle drive-through and bring it home, the car tends to smell the next morning even though the bag was only in it for 5 minutes.
