RAT vs the booking online page?

I discovered yesterday the difference between the RAT and the booking page. LoL. So what I am wondering is, for those who are trying to book a hard to get reservation, do you use the RAT or the booking page to do so?

If there was definitely something I want, and only that, I would use on line booking. Usually, when I am looking, I am not that specific.

I use the online booking page because I am usually looking for a specific resort.

RAT is generally what you use before 7 months out to see everything that is available for the time you want since, unlike the booking page, it allows you to see availability for non-owned resorts even though you have not reached your 7 month booking date. If you are trying to reserve an often difficult to get room at 7 months out and it is a few minutes before 8 a.m. on the day you can reserve, you should be using the booking page to set things up so you can reserve at exactly 8 a.m.

And just an aside since you are fairly new, RAT used to be named the Check Reservation Availabilty Page but Disney changed its name because members kept calling it by its acronym.

I use the RAT so that I can see an overview of everything. From there you end up at the Booking Page anyways. If I'm trying to book something difficult then I still use the RAT ahead of time but have selected what I want and am ready to go on the Booking Page before things open up.
