I have a friend that is going to DL/DCA in three weeks for her first trip. Her daughter would like to see Rapunzel. I know where and when to see her at WDW, but not DL.

Any tips for her?

Her family is staying at the Anaheim Marriot. I know nothing about this hotel. It sounds like it will be too far for them to walk to and from DL/DCA. The kids are 6 and 7 yrs old. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle available from this hotel? If so what is the cost?

TIA

Rapunzel is currently at her "house" in FL, next to Village Haus and Pinnochio. She is rumored to be joining the other princesses at the Princess Fantasy Faire soon but I don't know when. If your friend has concerns she can stop at City Hall (on Main Street) and ask where to meet Rapunzel.

I have no information on the hotel, we have never stayed there.

Is Rapunzel as crazy popular at DL as WDW? Should she be at DL before the park opens and head straight there to avoid a 1.5-2hr wait?

I love that hotel. I stay there whenever I'm in DL and need to stay overnight so that I don't have to drive the hour drive home when I'm tired or have people in town for a weekend.

There is a shuttle. It is the ART bus out front. There is a ticket machine and last time I used it, it was $3 for a day pass per adult. They did have multiple day-discounts and might have child tickets but I don't have children so I do not know.

However, I don't find that walk all that hard to do and I need the exercise so that says a LOT. I can see wee ones having an issue. The trick is to exit the hotel out the front, walk to the left, then make the very first left. You are walking down a service street BUT it is SO much shorter than walking all the way out to Harbor to walk down to the gates.

The hotel has a coffee bar, an adult bar, and a lobby restaurant. The food is good, but I find it pricey for even a Disneyland area hotel. The pool area leaves a lot to be desired. It is there and nice, but nothing over-the-top fancy.

Rapunzel USED to be next to the Carousel in DL with her own viewing area. I think they stopped showing her or limited her times. Just go to City Hall and ask and they will let your friends know how and where to see her.

The Anaheim Marriott is quite nice, but it is a bit of a walk (15+ minutes to the gate), so I wouldn't recommend it for the kids, at least not both ways.

Personally for a family of four your ART tickets would run $16 per day ($4 per person), so I would just take a cab to and from for $10 each way ($8 + tip), or $20 total.
Or walk one way and cab home, which was what we did the last time we stayed there this past fall .... :thumbsup2

When we were there last week, she would be in her house at 11am everyday. People would line up as soon as the park would open. We got in line at 10am and had a 45 minute wait.

Rapunzel is still there near her tower in FL. Flynn often appears with her. She is usually there after opening --10am opening = 11am rapunzel -- which is such a bummer because it means there's no easy way to get in and out super quickly. We actually just saw rapunzel yesterday even though it normally goes against my grain to wait an extended period of time to see a character but dd was wearing her rapunzel dress and REALLY wanted to see her :-)

What we did was we hit rope drop and went to FL for rides until about 10:30 when I got in line and dh took dd on more rides. I was about 5th in line. Unfortunately rapunzel didn't show up until about 11:15 which meant my wait was longer than usual. In fact it was a slow day at DL and we probably would have had a shorter wait, maybe 30 mins rather than what turned out to be 50 mins, if I'd gotten in line at 11:15 instead. Oh well, what can you do????

At least we were rewarded by being the first family to see flynn --the 4-5 families in front of us did not get to see him as he wasn't there yet.

ART shuttle tickets are only $1 per day for children ages 3-9 and there is discount pricing available when you purchase tickets for multiple days. At the Getaway Today website you can purchase 5 day tickets for the price of 3 day tickets and get 1 child's ticket free with each paid adult ticket. You can also walk over to the Toy Story parking lot and ride free.

Stayed at the Marriott in December...had a great experience. Nice rooms, great rate, Starbucks in the lobby... I would definitely return there the next time we are at DL.

We've stayed at the Marriott several times. Tell your friend to request a room in the main building, high floor with a fireworks view. It will be a partial view, but it's free!

We like to buy the Escape! Stay, Park, & Play package, as it includes the room, parking (which is now $24 per day!), and free buffet breakfast each morning for 2 adults and 2 kids. The buffet is in the restaurant, and it is very nice. Made to order omelets, waffles, eggs Benedict, etc. plus lots of fruit, cereals, cheese, pastries, and more!

With kids, tell her to use ART. She can take bus 4 or bus 5. One comes to the Marriott, but the other goes to the Hilton, which is right across the driveway from the Marriott. Nice thing is you miss one bus, since you can hop on the other one!

Thanks! She purchased a pkg with Alaska Airlines so I don't believe they get the buffet breakfast.

I will let her know about the ART buses. Can you purchase length of stay at the hotel for ART? She will want a 3-day as that is how many park days they have. I have also mentioned she would get a lot more done if they go early to the parks and then return to the hotel in the afternoon for a nap and swim and then hit the parks in the evening until close. She is going at a busy time but the parks are open late.

as far as I can remember yes, you can purchase length of stay ART passes at the hotel. We've stayed walking distance or we have a Premium AP (free parking) so we just drive and park. It's been a few years but I remember buying ART passes with multiple days on them.

We went to Rapunzel today, it was between 2 and 3 I cant remember. It took 30min to get through but 15 of that was wen she was on a break. We got to see Flynn too.

Thanks! I think I will recommend mom or dad get in line either 1/2 hr before Rapunzel is out in the morning or to go later in the day. The other parent can take the girls on a few rides/bathroom before getting into line.
