RANT re ECV's and comments form other "civilised" people

I just wanted to point out something that not many people realize. I believe Julie has mentioned this on the show before, but strollers are acceptable vehicles for children with health problems and disabilities. I have a friend whose son has epilepsy and autism. He uses a GAC card and a stroller when in the parks. This allows him front of the line access in certain situations and when he needs it. He does not have to be in a wheelchair for this accommodation. Keep in mind that strollers are not just for transporting healthy children, but those with special needs as well.

And to add on to Nikki's statement......

Please keep in mind that it's none of your freakin business who's in a stroller, wheelchair or ECV or why they are using the stroller, wheelchair or ECV.

None...nada..zip...zero...zilch.

Was that too blunt?

No that was perfect and 100% true no one has the right to comment on some one else for what ever reason.

Can we close this one now? :flower3:

I'm sure the people who are riding in the ECV's or getting to the front of the line with their sick or dying child would much rather be the person complaining about waiting a little longer in line.

Personally while I am in WDW, on vacation, I am not is such a hurry that either of those situations will ruin my trip. Perhaps the people who feel so put out should just feel lucky they are not in need of such accommodations and cut the other party some slack.

What I wish is that people could just stop and enjoy Walt Disney World for what it is the happiest place on earth, not who can get on the bus first or get on the ride any faster.

So sad that people judge so quickly and then that in turn makes those who need the assistance feel guilty (which they absolutely shouldn't)

So I am wishing on the first star tonight.......

...... Please blue fairy make my wish true.

I'm always to enthralled with being in the parks with my family to even notice ecv's. I was bumped by an ecv once but it wasn't a big deal and the person was very apologetic. I can't imagine driving one of those in the parks, must be hard.

You do a brilliant job of 'cutting to the chase'. Move over John the Genius.

They shouldn't allow ecv's in the parks..... unless they have a 355 cubic inch bored out chevy engine and flame stickers on the sides. Vrooom vrooom!!

We were just there. most of the buses we boarded had at least 1 ecv. some had 2 and some had 1 or 2 getting off the bus. on average I would say, that this added an extra 10 minutes to each bus ride. we took approximately 14 bus rides. math= 140 minutes. my husband was very annoyed about this and a lot of people on line were also. the volume seems to be the real issue, I know about ADA and work with people with disabilities, but in addition to the time, we often stepped aside to wait for the next bus, because by the time it was our time to board, the bus was standing room only and with 2 small kids and a folded stroller it was an unpleasant ride. It's one thing to have people with disabilities board first, but it's another to have all of their friends and family fill up the bus first. Disney really needs to do something about this, because the situation is only going to get worse, once the word gets out that Disney is the friendliest place on earth for people with disabilities. In my opinion, it's more discriminating to have ecv passengers board in full view first over the general population, where they appear to be getting special priveleges.

Sorry they have to board them first for safty they are not giving them anything extra. if they world board everyone first then board the ecv there would not be able to get the ecv on. Sorry you had to wait ten min but i think it worth it so someone in a ecv can enjoy the the bus ride safly just like you can. Disney know about it and if they see the stop is busy they will send another buses to help. It the right thing to do everyone has the right to ride the bus safely. There no other way disney can load them then to do it in front of other guest the bus drivers do it in a way that respect fully to the person in the wheel chair/ecv/stroller. What specail priveleges are they getting that the general public dosnet get the chance to board a bus first or to go through the day and not have to feel like the ecv slowed them down if ohter transportion was like disney then people in wheel chairs would have a better time getting around. It not a priveleges to board the bus first it a right so for once they get something specail. For most part it not a choice for someone in a wheel chair i am sure they rather not be in the chair and board last then be in th chair and board first. And what so wrong "once the word gets out that Disney is the friendliest place on earth for people with disabilities" do you thing it fun or easy for people with disabilities i have one and i love the fact that disney is great for people with disabilities. I am not in a wheel chair but just knowing they go above and beyound for guest in wheel chairs it make me feel good. Your entitled to your opion but i am also entitled to disagree. I say it now sorry for the grammer and spelling tried my best but know i get someone saying something so please dont.

I'm speechless. Are you kidding?

I could write a response, but it's obvious that for the person who wrote the garbage above it wouldn't do a bit of good.

Never said they shouldn't be boarded first. I said their entire friends and family should not be allowed to fill up the bus first. Maybe have one person accompany them. In any given city ADA says you should give up your seat to a person with a disability. Not to everyone else traveling with them.

Maybe one person should accompany them? How generous. Maybe your party should split up since you have an oversized double stroller.
