Uuughhh, if I have to hear one more time:

“Why are you going to Disney again? Didn’t you just come back?” “How can you afford to even think about going back already?!”

I bring my own lunch and coffee %99.9 of the time. We go out to eat once a month rather then every week, rent movies and games and enjoy them at home. These are the choices we make, we like our life style and the fact that we travel twice a year (once to Disney and once elsewhere) why does it bother others so much that we choose to go to Disney? Our bills are all paid on time, we have savings accounts, we owe our own home and the kids are very well off so why does it bother others so much that we get to travel? Sorry, I just had to get this off my shoulders.

I've come to find that some people just don't get Disney (most who don't have never been there!) I get the question alot and often ask "where do you go on vacation?" Most of the people go to the beach every year. So what's the difference :confused3 At least I have Splash Mountain

As for the money part, how is it their business? Plus they haven't been DISified yet so they don't realize the bargains to be had!!! :thumbsup2

I feel like I just heard myself talk

I get the same thing from people I know. I tell them, "I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't go out, so I deserve my vacation."

I always say this in a funny way, but everyone knows I'm serious and to get off my back.

I was also going to bring up the beach point. Some of these people go to the beach every year, sometimes the same exact beach. And they can't believe I'm going back to WDW. Which is fine, but why can't they keep their thoughts to themself? I'm not asking them to pay for my vacation, afterll.

Feel better now? Good.

Now here's what ya do.
Next time some busybody tries to play 20 questions with you about Disney, simply smile, and start humming (loudly) It's A Small World and walk away. They won't bother you anymore because no one wants to have that song stuck in their head all day long!!! Tiki Room song works good too. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I used to hear it a lot. I agree, think some people just don't get Disney. My Dad used to say to me, why do you want to go to WDW when you can go to Cape May. :confused3

Oh yeah, I get the same thing. What really gets me is one of my friends - she and her family go to Myrtle Beach EVERY year, the same week in August, stay in the SAME condo, and they've done this ever since I've known her (almost 20 years). That's ok, but she can't understand why we go to Disney every other year! :confused3 I give up trying to explain.

Next time sometime asks you "Why?", simply answer them "Why not??".......then turn and walk away!! :lmao: Let's face it, we GET it, they don't..........their loss, our gain! party: :simba: :stitch: :goofy: :figment: :dumbo: :tigger: :mickeyjum :ccat:

I tried, I really did. I ask them what’s the difference if we choose to vacation at Disney if they go on vacation to A, B or C but they just come back with the standard “I would hate to have your bills” or my other favorite “Don’t you get tired of going back?” I hate to explain myself so normally I just smile and let it be, but I have to admit its been getting to me more lately.

Like the other poster said I don’t smoke, I rarely drink, one of my guilty pleasures is vacationing with family which we do every year. It makes me angry when I feel like I have to explain myself to others while they sip their extra foam triple mocho coco vanilla lattes and brag about the expensive dinner’s plans they have. Or how they went shopping over the weekend and how they spend tons of money on clothes, books, cds or other stuff.

Thank you everyone for listening I just felt like I’m having to defend myself a lot lately and its getting annoying, especially when it’s the same people that do it.

yup us to i heard it today from my sister
sorry we both work, save, buy stuff on sale, rarely eat out, sell old books online, we make it happen our vacation is important to us
i dont care what they think anymore

I was in Disney this past September and I became Disney-ized full tilt! I am going back for one day in February, and then have a full scale trip planned again for next November. There's just so much to see and do for me yet. People used to give me that same song because I used to really like to go to Las Vegas, although I'm not really a big gambler. I went for the food, shows, attractions, shopping and the occassional slot machine. So, Disney is right up my alley honestly. Usually by the third day in Vegas I was ready to go home, but I wanted to stay in Disney three days longer back in September!

They don't see the magic I guess!! :confused3

:wizard:

Just think... Thats one less person thats liable to be at WDW while you're there!! :rotfl2:

My DBF doesnt get why I love WDW so much.. We go on cruises every year (not disney) and thats all he wants to do.. When I mention going to WDW, he says "We have Six Flags right down the road!".. :confused3 He just doesnt get it either.. Thats why just me and my 3 kids are going in May.. We're leaving him behind! :thumbsup2

I'm planning a trip to DL this April. I haven't told anyone, I've just said "DH and I are going to California". I haven't even told my DB and SIL yet! To be honest, even I'm getting "Disney-ed out", we are going for the 50th. After that, I doubt we'll go back anytime soon (weeeel, we DO have those non-expiry hoppers with 3 days left....;) )

Anyway, I agree. It's no one else's business where a person goes on vacation. The reply should be "Sounds fun, hope you have a great time!" no matter if you are going to Disney for the 1,000th time or to Death Valley just to get a "killer tan".

Oh my --- Don't ya just hate when people ask that... ME TOO!!!! I am going this year on April Vacation - happened to get lucky and book on JetBlue during a sale, we will stay off site, got a great deal with Alamo on a SUV ,have left over days on hoppers and waterpark passes! I just told everyone that the daycare is closed - and it really is - so i will be taking off the week. I am not telling anyone except my Best Friend who will be there the same time (she is doing Universal/Kennedy this trip) and my mom knows but is having a fit . I have a plan in motion for an Easter treasure hunt for the kids to find out and they can then call their Dad and tell him (Easter is the day before we leave!) Michelle
