randy chapman

To be honest this is all relative - it would depend on the package and the quality and what's important to you. For example with Disney all your photographs will go on line for everyone to see, Randy doesn't yet offer that service - but Randy will let you have all your high res prints on CD for a minuscule amount of cash rather than Disney charging you heaps of money. Disney however will charge you a fee for using an outside photographer, charged per hour - so basiclly you have to total it all up. When I totalled it all up yes Randy was cheaper than the quote from Disney and the other thing was at least I knew Randy's work where as you never usually know which photographer you're getting with Disney - oh and this is only relevant to a Custom wedding as if you're having an Intimate then Disney photography is inlcuded in that package.

The other thing to think about is making sure you will meet your minimums. This isn't relevant if you are having a big 50+ guest list as most likely you will meet it easily then - but with 25 guests at mine I had to do with DPS to make sure I met my minimums. So for me, even though Randy is less money, I would have had to spend more on other things with Disney to be able to use Randy. Fortunately I was very happy with my DPS pics!

i think randy's cheaper and he does such a wonderful job on capturing all the moments of your wedding and reception. he's the only outside photographer i know that has a special contract with disney; disney won't charge you extra fees for using randy like if you use another outside photographer. the cd's are free, just make sure you ask for the cd's when your pics are being developed. give him a call and ask for packages and compare them to disney. i would go with randy.

Does anyone know if he does several weddings in one day? It's good to know so many people love his work! Thanks! :earsgirl:

It depends on the type of wedding he has set up for that day. I had an intimate wedding for only around 4 hours. He had another big wedding he had to do starting at around 3pm that same day.

Actually this isn't always the case - Disney DO charge an outside photographer fee for Randy it's just it hasn't been consistent. I only had to pay a one $90 fee for the first three hours but nothing extra where as I know other brides on here have paid $90 for the first three hours and THEN another $30 per hour thereafter - it's just been dependant on whether or not your EM or SM get it on the contract or your BEO - some of us have been lucky no to be charged at all and some of us have been stung - it's always best to check your contract and BEO and also include it in your budget so that you don't get a surprise when it comes to paying the bill.

Also cd's - again you need to check with Randy on this because again I know of a few brides who have been charged for the cd's by Randy and a few who haven't.

Also as much as I am biased towards Randy ;) I would say that there are indeed other photographers out there who are just as good and are also cheaper than Disney.
