I wanted to share with everyone some random thoughts and observations I had from our recent trip to the Fort. We spent 8 nights starting on March 19 in site 816. It is hard to believe that we are back in Indiana where it is rainy and 45 degrees out tonight but unfortunately we have to go back to work tomorrow to start funding our next excursion which will occur sooner than originally planned (I will explain later).

On the Fort:

1. I had faxed a request to the Fort 4 days prior to our arrival using the form letter on this site. I had requested site 816, 818 or 820. Assuming the odds were against me on a specific site, I also made a general request for the 800 loop preferably in the back as we like the quietness of that area and it is near the dog walk. We were not arriving until around 8pm which I was hoping would work in our favor but I also knew that might work against us as others would check-in prior. I have to be honest that I had mentally prepared myself for them to say "We have you in the 500 loop" or anywhere other than where we had really wanted to be. I can not tell you how shocked we were to hear the CM say we have you in site 816! WOW....dreams do come true!! So on that note, I wanted to say a big thank you to the people who assign sites for making a magical moment for us. We love that site!

On Kenny of Tee Time Golf Carts:

1. Kenny is as good as they come. I didn't receive the usual call the day before we arrived so I called him at 9am to set up the delivery. He says to me that he didn't see a time request and his wife told him that I said I was flexible. I tell him that I don't want him to make a special trip for us so he can just bring it when he is delivering another one or picking one up. I was just trying to help him out. He says to me, "Let me explain how this works. You are the customer and I provide the service so you just tell me when you would like your cart and I will be there." WoW!! If only more businesses operated like that. So I set up delivery for 11:00am. When he arrives, as usual, the cart is fantastic. Black Club Car with rain gear all clean, polished and charged. Then he says to me, "Oh no, my wife made a mistake on the price" I am thinking great, I owe you more money. NOPE!! He says, "You were to get a 10% discount as a repeat customer" So I say, "Kenny, I read online you won't except tips" He says, "No, I don't" I said, "Well it looks like this time you will...keep the 10% discount for yourself" His reply is "Are you sure, I am really sorry about this." I tell him it is worth every penny. He then says, "You don't know how much I appreciate all of you that rent from me here at the Fort. It pays my mortgage" What a great guy and I am more than glad to help him. For those of you don't know, Kenny use to work for an airline in Indianapolis before they went out of business a few years ago. He moved to Otown and started Tee Time. I highly recommend him.

A side note: I asked if Disney had given him any problems. He said no but he tries to keep it on the down low. He brought our cart in an enclosed trailer. No stickers on the vehicle or trailer to identify him. He also does not number the carts.

I have more thoughts/observations that I will post later.

Thanks for the info! We'll be renting from TeeTime our next trip down and info like this assures me it's the best choice.

I am back at work this morning and need to play catch up but you see where my priorities are....that's right, I am start my day by visiting the DIS to share a few more observations from our trip. I have to do this why it is still somewhat fresh in my mind or I will forget.

Cast Members Make Magic:

So my wife and I are on the boat from FW to the Magic Kingdom on Wednesday afternoon. It was one of the big boats that has both inside and outside seating. We are setting up front enjoying the sun when a CM sets down behind us and asks if we are on our way to the park. We tell him we are and then next thing I know, he whips out what appears to be a ticket book and starts writing. He hands us a slip of paper and says to give it to any fast pass ride we choose for instant access to a ride. He told us he likes to "treat" people in the afternoon as many times the fast passes are all gone later in the day and he had chosen us. We thanked him repeatedly. We met our friends who were getting ready to use their fast passes at Buzz Lightyear and told them we would ride with them. They looked perplexed and said "But you don't have a fast pass...you just got here." BAZINGA!! We whip out our ticket and away we went. Oh, and I did win on Buzz.

Tickets:Price of Admission:

My cousin is a part time CM and gave my wife and I one day park hoppers for Christmas this year so we used them on Monday. We had only planned to go one day. My wife and I are both former CM's and we also use to be annual pass holders. To be honest, we haven't been to the parks in probably 5 years as we had kind of burned out on them when we went non stop during those years when we had unlimited entrance.

Unfortunately on Monday before we even got through the train station at the Magic Kingdom, I was so caught up in the Magic that I knew we would have to go another day with our friends. I really was missing the wonderful world of Disney! The problem was what to do about a ticket. I knew our friends had park hoppers and a one day park hopper is over $130 per person. No way was I going to spend that much for a one day admission. So I decided we would invest long term in Disney buy purchasing maybe a 5 or 7 day hopper with no expiration. A 7 day hopper with no expiration was going to run $401 per person. Lots of money! Then I remembered reading something about DVC members getting a discount on AP's. Yep....$100 off per person so we made the plunge and we now have AP's again. I forgot how much I love AP's. Going into EPCOT at 4:00 on Friday and not feeling guilty for only being there for 4 hours was great. Now in order to get our money's worth, I am going to have to spend more money. My wife has me planning a July trip back to the Fort for a couple of weeks. Luckily we are both teachers so our summers are free.

Apology:

I will slip this in now. Please forgive me but I had my trailer washed. This was the first time we have used it since putting it away last fall. The awning was so dirty and smelled. I tried not to do it but I finally caved when they were in our loop. It only took them about 30 minutes and $75 for the wash. To be considerate to others, I did opt not to get the full blown waxing/detailing job. (and the purchase of $800 of annual passes also played into that decision if I am being completely honest.)

If I get time, I will post my final thoughts and observations from the trip later.

No apology needed or necessary. I prefer nice, clean trailers and Motorhomes and use the services myself. In fact, I need to make a trip so I can have mine detailed.:thumbsup2

Sounds like things worked out well on your trip. I hope you find time to finish up your "thoughts and observations."popcorn::

The company we used was Amazing Detailing. They were in our loop one day so I just stopped to see what they were charging. They charged us $75 to was our fifth wheel. To get the full waxing/detailing it would have been $300. I saw another company in the fort but I don't recall the name on their van.

A couple of more things: (maybe it would have been easier if I had just done a trip report)

Ice Tea:

I was shocked to learn that my refillable mug was not eligible for ice tea at the pool. They said they could only refill it with coffee, soda or lemonade. I found that strange since food courts now have the Peak Tea machines that you can get refills at.

Deal at the Disney Outlet

We went to the Character Premier at the Premium Outlets and found a good deal on the Disney Christmas Throws that at one time were one of the promotional items on property (you know; spend this much and you can buy this item for so much.) They were selling the throws for $10 each and there was no limit on how many you can purchase. There is also no minimum that you have to spend to purchase them. We bought 3 and are sticking them away as Christmas gifts for next year. I doubt these will last long but I did want to share.

Snake Bite

I forget which day it was but my friend Dave comes back from the comfort station and tells us that the EMS and Disney Security are in front of the comfort station attending to a man who was bitten by a snake. Not just any snake but a cottonmouth. Now I hate snakes and I don't know much about them but I did see the movie "Hoot" and remembered them saving Cottonmouths are nasty ones. Apparently the man had been bitten between his thumb and finger. Not sure if he was reaching down for something or what. He did however chase it after it bit him and he caught it. Said he wanted to know what bit him. Apparently Disney disposed of the snake once they arrived. Dave overheard the paramedics tell the man he would be ok but they were going to keep on eye on it. Needless to say I really kept my eyes open when we walked around. Never did see a snake though all week. Did see rabbits, deer and armadillos.

SCREW your neighbors ,,as long as you are happy,,THATS WHATS IMPORTANT ! :woohoo:

We just returned from the fort last week, another great trip with wonderful weather. We were at the fort in a week and, as usual, rented a cart from the resort.

All went well as usual but my comment is about the usefulness of the cart given some of the recent parking rules and driving restrictions. We were in the 800 loop, by the time you go around and enter the pool from the back and park the cart you might just as well walk. I noticed the meadows store parking was overflowing with carts and realized that its people parking and then walking across the bridge.

They were twice policing the parking down by the marina and asked several people to re-park their carts, they wouldn't let me park for the fireworks as there were no spots left.

Anyone notice this at the fort lately? Has something changed lately? They didn't seem to mind the underage drivers that I saw so I guess there are limits to the rules and enforcement.

Hi! This is our first trip to FW and I'm going to request Loop 800. Are the sites that you requested full shade, partial shade or no shade. Also, in that general loop area, can satellite be picked up with either one on the rv roof or portable one? Thanks for your input.

We didn't have a problem finding a parking spot but I agree with you on going to the pool. We walked a couple of times instead of taking the cart. The cart was useful in transporting our 2 year old niece around. We also use it for taking our pups to the dog park and we really enjoy looping to look at lights, campers, etc.

I would say partial shade for the site we had. There were a couple of sites using satelites on the ground. I told my wife we should have brought our dish as I am sure where we were I could have gotten a signal.

There is definitely shade in the 800 loop but at 816 not so much that we didn't get some sun to enjoy.

Hmmmm... driving the cart 1/2 way around the main loop is a problem? That's a new one on me! I was looking for excuses to drive the cart more, and that sounds like a good one. I guess I don't get it :confused3

thanks for the info on Kennys t time... im probably going to give him a call next week when we go there.

Ditto! Let's see, some favorite excuses include....

- doing laundry (more often than truly necessary)
- refilling a mug (who cares if there's soda in the TT fridge)
- run to the trading post for (fill in your favorite totally unnecessary item)
- go see if there's anyone at the dog park
- take the dogs to the dog park.... again
- need change of scenery while drinking favorite adult beverage

need I go on? :drive:
