This morning I noticed that we have a small ACH deposit pending in our bank account from the IRS..."ACH TRANSACTION – IRS TREAS 310"
It is around $35. We received our refund in the full amount in July.
I checked DS's bank account, and he has a small deposit pending too...same message, but the amount is $1.29

Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas what this could be? TIA!

You may have made an error on your taxes that the IRS discovered.

I used Turbotax online for ours and DS’s taxes, but I guess that’s possible. You’d think we would’ve gotten some sort of letter. Maybe we still will. Thank you.

The IRS Treasury - 310 code was what was used for the coronavirus stimulus payment.

I looked back thru my account and our tax refund and stimulus payment both used code 310.
Ah...ok so they use that code for any deposit. Definitely weird. If IRS was sending you anything I’d think they would have notified you in some fashion prior to just sending the money. I’d definitely contact the bank. Could be a phishing scheme to get access to your account and take money.

I posted this same question on another forum and someone replied that the IRS is paying interest on refunds..so that must be what it is.

Thanks for your input!

I was one of the delayed refunds (physically mailed April 5, received refund a couple of weeks ago), but the interest amount was tacked onto the the refund and processed as a single deposit, not separate ones.

I have $2.45 pending for deposit tomorrow. If they take it back because it wasn't supposed to be deposited, it's only $2.45.

Letters about that coronavirus stimulus payment earlier this year arrived after the money showed up in our account. If the IRS is depositing money into someone's account, there isn't anything to be worried about. Scams or phishing schemes are usually sent via email and the same bogus email randomly goes to thousands of people. They wouldn't know your bank account #, so that is totally different. I would only contact the bank if the amount was HUGE since then it was probably the result of an error and they would need to look into it.

A coworker now also has a small deposit pending. I am sure it’s the interest on a refund thing. Thanks again!

This happened to us once and we received a letter prior asking us to agree to their adjustment before they deposited the funds
Yes, IRS sends notices to explain discrepancies in the original return and either an additional amount due or the original amount adjusted for interest. BUT then again, the mail has been delayed, so maybe you will get a notice I the mail. Doesn’t seem likely that the interest would be sent separately as an additional deposit

We got one too! We actually have 3, one for 1.45, 3.50 and 9.45 (or something like that). I called our accountant and he didn't know anything about it, said the main reason the IRS would do something like that would be for the interest on late refund payments . I think the 2 smaller amounts are for our young adult kids; their federal refund went into our account b/c our accountant didn't have their bank info at the time. However, we haven't had any late refunds other than 2014 when our refund was hacked/stolen before we got it and had to get our local Congressman's office involved to finally get it in September. Even if that was the case, I don't know why there would be 3 payments, the kids didn't file taxes that year. I keep checking the mail for an explanation.

Interest from the IRS.

I had the exact same amount deposited to my account this week: "Deposit IRS TREAS 310 / TYPE: TAX REF ID: xxxxxxxxxx CO: IRS TREAS 310 $2.45". I wonder what's going on.
