This is quite possibly the most random question regarding the sewer system ever asked, but here goes! What is the diameter of the sewer inlet at the full hookup sites? We NEVER camp at facilities with full hookups, and our trip in June will be our first. I am wanting to make out of PVC a 90* sewer elbow that slides into the inlet. I have a "donut" style 90 that is "one size fits most," but have found that it does not seal as well as I think it should. TIA for all responses, and please contain laughter and keep the jokes that I am about to receive to a minimum!! :confused3

Can't help you with exact diameter, but it is standard, so shouldn't be hard to find out. Our 'donut' has always worked just fine - never failed yet!! That's all that's ever required at any place we've ever camped, so know there's no problems.

Unless you have an inner need to DIY it I'd just get one made for the job like the one I linked here or similar. It has several different thread sizes to match whatever diameter the hole is at any dump station and will also pressure fit where there are no threads. For under $9:

If you have the locking hoses there are adapters that accept those too. Personally, I tossed the clamping kind as soon as I bought my rig and got a kit that had 30' of locking hose and the elbow for under $30. Don't want any stinky leaks!

At FW the threaded female pipe is for 3". The elbow setup linked by Maligator works well.

P.S.-before opening the black valve to dump the holding tank, ALWAYS check for secure hookup and leaks by a quick opening and closing of the gray tank valve first. Better to find a problem with gray water than black water.

This is exactly the one that I have (the locking style). I am wanting to make one out of schedule 40 PVC that slides down into the hole a couple of inches. What I will probably end up doing is just making one out of 2 3/4" pipe with a 90* elbow and a bayonet fitting on the other end to accept my hose.

I use this in nearly every campground. I think one year we found a site that did not like the longer bottom section, so I have one that is also cut down just in case.
