I was watching the View a few days ago and they showed scenes with a family who won a trip from the show. Sherry S. went on the trip with them to Costa Rica. Looked like lots of fun. I'm sure it's quite expensive.

wicked expensive! really not worth the points, you can get cheaper trips going through AAA.

talking college
bragging here

DD12 scored very well on our state testing PSSA (can't remember exactly what that stands for, PA State System of Assessment maybe) results just came in the mail
She only missed three Q's on the entire test!
Rockin!

Terrific!!

::yes:: that is why we may have to wait awhile for that one :sad2: But I really want to go at that time since my mom and dad will be celebrating their birthday's and anniversary plus I want to go to MNSSHP :goodvibes We will probably stick with January until I graduate :thumbsup2

we are doing MNSSHP this year! Can't wait!

very cool! We haven't gotten DS11's yet.......I didn't think they would come this early!

I don't know anything about points or DVC. I really should have looked into it long ago. When we plan our trips we always do everything on our own. We arrange for the flights separately and just call Disney reservations for our room. The only new thing I have for this year is a Disney Visa card. Just got it a few months ago.

oh boy, where do you want to start?

Initial investment is high, but...........depending on your travel habits/needs you make the initial investment in about 7 trips.

We actually never did the presentation, we 'found out the best kept secret' on our last day & didn't have time. However-- a few things that I do know---you get ice cream (yum) for sitting through the presentation, & you get only a handful of fast passes (essentially only enough to make up the time that you are in the presentation), it is NOT a 'hard sell'-- like most timeshares are---from what I hear, it is very much 'alright' to walk away if it is not something you are interested in.

not sure about a gift card.......maybe what you are thinking is this:

If you put the down payment on a Disney Visa you receive $500 of Disney Reward Dollars. The amount of points you buy has to be at least 160. (they have a 'special' going on right now where you can buy in a 'only' 100 points. The usual buy in amount is 160 points.

oh here's where you want to start! Don't give me something easy......go right for the kill!

Points: this is the beauty of DVC vs other timeshares. (yes, there are other places people go......:scared1: & a lot of other timeshares are cheaper) however this is one of the best things: your points can be used anytime you want, for however long or short you want, any time of year, any day of the week, summer, winter, Christmas, anytime......there are no blackouts what-so-ever.
Now- that being said, obviously the more costly times to go (i.e. Christmas--)(think anytime the room rates are high)- the DVC points needed are going to be high as well. Weekend points are going to be higher than weekday points (Friday, Saturday).

Banking, borrowing & use years may have to be a lesson for tomorrow.

you can use your points at over 500 locations throughout the world.........however.........BIG HOWEVER.........the best 'bang for you buck' is to stay at the DVC resorts..........in addition to those in WDW, there is one in Hilton Head, NC, Vero Beach, FL.........one coming in So Callie (DL) & one in Hawaii.....now those.........until they are for sale.......I would not base decisions on those.......

ok-- tomorrow-- Banking, borrowing, Use Year, 11 month & 7 month windows........also there is a DVC thread.........I'll PM you........

I only saw parts of your posts. Made lots of sense all at once. You are an expert!

Thanks for putting it all together for me!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

it is a 'hard ticket' event at MK some nights during September & October.....it is a special party that you purchase tickets to, the party begins at 7p & ends at 12 mid. The 'kids' (young & old) go to 'booths/tables' & Trick or Treat. (or you can skip this part as we probably will--& hit the rides w/ not as many people there), a special castle forefront show, a special parade & special fireworks 'Hallowishes'.
We did the P&PP last year (Pirate & Princess Party) & it is the same concept....I don't know that we would do parties over (some go every year) but I think to try each one once or twice would be fun. The other one is MVMCP- Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

WOW- was this too much info!:lmao:

No wonder I'm not familiar with them. I am never there at those times of the year. Sounds like fun.
Thanks for going through all of the effort to fill me in!

the cool new thing w/ Disney Visa is there is now not a limit to the number of Disney Reward Dollars you can earn.........up until a few months ago the limit was 750 points/dollars. (we tend to put most things on this cc & pay off each month) I torture myself w/ this one........Disney $$ but only a 1% return vs a GM Card that I have towards a GM car at 3%........ :lmao:

I know what you mean. We get ff miles on AMEX card and my husband thought I was crazy to be maxing out Disney Visa for reward dollars worth much less. I couldn't help myself. Had so many doctor appts. and tests to be done that I reached my credit limit faster than I ever expected. That was even after paying off in full the month before.

only b/c of the Dis!:lmao:

the other 'bonus' so to speak---is DVC members get $100 off of Annual Passes. If you will be at the World more than 8 days in 366 days it is worth it to buy APs. Also AP holders are eligible for DDE (Disney Dining Experience) an alternative to the Disney Dining Plan. In a nut shell DDE works this way: 20% off of most TS meal & some CS meals. DDE does add in an 18% tip, (but most pay that anyway---except buffett.......then I could see MAYBE an issue)....the tax is added in (after the discount) at 6.5% (last I knew)....so all in all you're getting a 2% discount (?confused yet).
Now AP discount is a 'perk' that Disney giveth & Disney may takeith away so again, don't buy based on such things.

 (you're not to be thinking such things until after summer ;) )
