Just booked airfare to California last night. We haven't been to DL since 2005.

1.) Do we need to have the AP bought in our hands before we can book a room using the rate?
2.) Can you see the AP offers/rates without the AP in hand?
3.) When will January/Feb discounts be released?
4.) What is the typical offers for that time of year?
5.) Chances of Splash being closed end of January?

Thanks! Looking forward to spending time on this forum over the next few months!

1. No.
2. No, you'll have to call
3. There's a discount now, if you book and the rate goes down, you can call back and have it applied.
4. No idea, AP rates are usually 10-25%
5. Hard to tell, it might get a spruce up for the 60th. Let's be honest, that ride randomly goes down at least a few times per week.

1) As SMD said, you do not have to have the AP in hand to book a room at the AP rate. You will need to show a valid AP at check-in or soon there after to keep the AP rate.

2) You cannot see the rates online if you do not have a valid AP. You will have to call and ask if there are any AP discounts for your period of interest.

3) I don't know, but my general sense is that the highest discount "specials" are not usually released very far in advance (I'd say one to three months). The current AP special goes from mid-August to mid-September. You might keep an eye on Mousesavers.com to see if any new offers/deals come out.

4) I think the standard/default AP discount is about 10 percent (some nights are excluded). Currently the calendar only goes through November (online). The current special summer offer increases the discount to 25% for select nights and hotels. So it can vary and again, not all nights are included/available.

5) In both 2013 and 2014, Splash Mountain closed for a refurb in late January. With the upcoming 60th anniversary, all of the refurbs have been kind of unpredictable. So it's possible that Splash might not close in January of 2015, but if I were a betting person, I would probably plan on Splash closing at the end of January (if the pattern of 2013 and 2014 holds, it would be around the 20th).

Thanks!

So what is the typical schedule for nighttime entertainment in the winter?

F! is only on the weekends? How about WOC?

In the slower times of the year (Jan/Feb included) WoC will generally run nightly, whereas F! and fireworks (and Mad T Party) are generally only weekends (Fri-Sun). (Exceptions are the Mondays associated with MLK and President's Day. On those Mondays there was evening entertainment.)

Last year, WoC was down from 1/7 through 1/16 for rehab (and I would guess, reset to the non-Winter Dreams version). Fantasmic ran through the the first Sunday after New Years (so 1/5) and then was down until 2/13.

WOC has run year round, but with the recent change to a single show per night, I wouldn't be 100% confident saying that will continue to be the case. However, it's way to early to speculate.
