Random Questions 10/6

First rent 2002 - $1100 a month for a two bedroom. Was a nice location - walking distance to the ocean and the T (the train to Boston).
First condo 2004- was $220,000 for a two bedroom
First and current house 2006- was $349,000 for 1400 square foot fixer upper. I just had an appraisal for a home equity and the values it as 600k. Let me tell you what 600k gets in my town is nothing compared to what it gets you in other states. Here it gets you 1400 sq foot.
The suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts was/are ridiculous for housing costs.

We rented a 1 bedroom with a garage for $1,100 a month.
We bought our first townhouse in 2010 on a short sale for $120,000. We sold it last years for $335,000.

We closed on our current house almost exactly 1 year ago for $565,000.

Everyone would cut the dinner roll in half and butter both halves all at once for gosh sakes!😁

More seriously, people would accept other opinions on everything and not judge someone that theirs are different.

Able bodied people would work for their living.

Oh no! I just fussed at DH for that very thing with his dinner roll! 😬

Although ITA with the rest of your post.👍🏼

in a restaurant, My ex MIL putting her Chanel bag on the table with the logo facing out for all passerby to see....
Come on…practical not pretentious. Where should she put a Chanel? 🤔 It’s bad luck on the floor and hanging from a chair is asking for trouble. Some kids with sticky fingers, a clumsy waitress, etc. The table is likely the safest place unless one carries a bag hanger (yes I do). 😬

We bought a townhouse, in Jan 1990, for $44000. Sold it two years later, and barely got out without owing money LOL

So, I'm not inviting them as guests, but entertainment...so I'd probably want...

An American Idol Reunion - Daughtry (the whole band), Philip Phillips (whole band), Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Adam Lambert (with Queen if they'll show)

A magician showcase - Shin Lim, Penn and Teller, David Copperfield, and David Blaine

Chefs galore - I want Jaime from this season's Top Chef (b/c her food was AMAZING), with Masahara Morimoto, Richard Blaise, the Voltaggio Brothers (their food is also amazing), and Marcel Vignoron all cooking the dairy and tree nut free, fish forward and fresh forward food:)...

And then, I'd want the original London cast of Les Miserables to perform.

And, the only celebrity I'd want next to me was Simon Cowell, b/c I'm sure I'd be amused by how he rated all the evening's food and entertainment, b/c I know he couldn't help himself:)...

first house in 1977 for $36,000. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath with un unfinished upstairs which we finished by 1982 when DD was born...2 more bedrooms and bath

My ex-husband is an IT guy and makes a lot of money. He also lives 2 hours away from us (to be with the woman he cheated with) so can't help with anything spur of the moment. We moved here because he has family here, but they have never once helped even when we were married & even though I've watched their kids a hundred times. I take care of our 2 special needs kids and work part-time with the school district so that my schedule can be flexible if they need me and I'm off the same days the kids are. He frequently asks me when I'm going to get a real job and what I want to be when I grow up. I'm over 50 :furious:

Kellykins, I'm so angry for you! I wouldn't even call that pretentious... It's just being a plain ol' jerk!

Not a single one, I want to spend time with my friends. Well guess that makes a pretty small party anyway. Now if it was a séance, then John Wayne, Elvis, and Kathrine Hepburn.

When I worked as a secretary, a man being interviewed had arrived, though he refused to open the door. He kept knocking and despite me telling him it was open, he wouldn't open the door, so I opened the door. He announced himself as being present for the interview, that I must be the secretary and to go fetch him some coffee and danish while he waits. My first instinct was to flip him off, but I sat at my desk and informed him that my name was not secretary, that was my role in the office. I don't fetch anything for anyone and if he really wanted coffee and danish, the cafeteria was downstairs.

Thankfully this guy was not hired...my boss did ask what happened when he first arrived for the interview and was highly impressed that I didn't punch that guy.

I have to strongly disagree with this. My bil thinks all Muslims are terrorists, sight unseen, and thinks it’s ok to use the n word in his daily life. I do not accept his opinions on this and I HARSHLY judge him for it.

Do you accept it?

School / Work wouldn't start until 10am at the earliest,
Well, that would bring an end to after school sports and parents ability to make their kids games after work. My kids were in private school and their school day ended 45 minutes later than public school. Always had to make sure my kids Little League and Soccer coaches knew they would be late to 3 pm practice since 3 pm was when school let out. Lots of snacks and changing clothes in the car.

In the late 80s, we went to a wedding in Dallas. It was technically winter, but it had to have been AT LEAST 80 degrees. And the A/C was not freezing anyone out. Anyone who has been through a "Texas winter" knows that it isn't uncommon to see women in sleeveless dresses in December. A wedding guest walked in wearing a long fur coat and she kept it on through the entire service, which was not a brief one. She got lots of WTH looks. How she wasn't sweating is beyond me. I whispered to my DH that she might as well have just left the price tag visibly showing. I'm not sure she even ditched that fur at the reception.

If everyone in the world was like me, nobody would have these opinions so...problem solved. :grouphug:
