Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure where to ask this.

Do the cast members on the boards "out" themselves. I mean is there any negative repercussions to saying you are a cast member?

I know it's random. And, again sorry if this isn't the forum for this question.

I know of three CMs who post here who don't make any secret of the fact that they're CMs. One is Cheshire Figment, who wrote the ticket stickey on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board. There's also Venomhatch, who posts on the FAQ threads for both POR and POFQ, as well as TheRustyScupper. I'm sure there are some things that they're not allowed to talk about, but since, like I said, they don't make a secret of the fact that they work for Disney, I would assume they aren't breaking any rules simply by posting.

We do have some CMs who are very open about their work here on the boards, but we also have many who are not comfortable doing so. We also have a private board for CMs. It seems like now a days more of them are open about saying they work for Disney on the boards; it wasn't always like that.

I guess if I were a CM and I posted here, I'd be very concerned about it. We know that Disney follows these boards. Imagine saying something unflattering in one of your posts and hearing about it from management later.

I'm sure the CMs who don't hide that fact that they are are smart enough not to say anything that would get them in trouble.

I would also think that if you are a CM you would be careful what you say.

I am not a cast member, but the wife of one. DH was offered a position yesterday and we are both so excited!

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking any rules. I know it sounds silly but he is excited and wanted this badly so I am thrilled for him.

My managers have seen the Everything About WDW Tickets sticky. I have generally gotten two comments:

1. "You seem to know the border between public and non-public information and we have not seen any non-public published by you."

2. "Please try to keep it a little less 1st person" Because they prefer I don't say "we will do ..."

But on the flip side I will keep them informed of anything related to Water Park operations. And I will also post my opinions, and they have never comment to me about that.

Well, congratulations to him! :goodvibes

Thank you! He is very excited and career wise this is the perfect place for him.

i appreciate your feed back from the CM point of view. He's not a DIS'er but I do realize that I am a reflection as well.

I have a question what is Disney policy of cms coming on here or other internet sites and saying according the hub or internal emails. Or other stuff Disney posts behind the scenes dose Disney not like that or they okay with cm sharing info they give them on behind the scenes settings. I figure if Disney wants us to know they have plenty of ways to post them to the public. I work for a hotel and we are not allowed to share any info they give us via email, posting in work areas or anything they give us. I can't I manage Disney being happy if cms on this thread keep doing it because what stopping them from selling info to universal if they haven't already.

I have worked in government and currently I work for a health insurance company and this is a big no no. I suppose different companies have different policies but my feeling is that this is not smart.

DH has worked with high profile clients before and while I've known he was working with them he NEVER told me what he was doing or what the project was about. At one point he was working with Disney (as a vendor) and he was really tight lipped. When the official word was released from Disney I would tell him and I'd get a "I know" look. It was like living with a CIA spy!

Yeah I figured the place I work for makes us sign things I work for a conference center and they would go crazy. If they found out of we was sharing group names we not even allowed I tell other hotel guest the names of the group we have in house. The best is when we get company's that are competent with each owe like drug company's we have I make sure to sit them separately.

This.

I try to use my knowledge to help people out and/or aleve their fears. However, I would never post internal memos or anything on the boards. That's just insane. I also generally don't go outside of the Podcast forum though either...

I've never had anyone mention anything to me, but probably because we're too busy keeping the servers running :surfweb:

Isn't that funny, I feel like the Podcast boards are a "safe place". Also, things on the Theme Parks board are getting heated. I find this crowd much more laid back. :D
