Hey guys

Now dont get me wrong with this qeustion, we dont go on holiday to watch TV, not at all. But on a few occasions over our 3 week holiday we may get in slightly earlier than other nights and fancy watching a movie or something else "light" to unwind too.

However, last year and to be honest during all our previous holidays I could not for the life of me get my head round how the TV channels in the Disney resorts work.

I tried downloading one night an American TV guide on my I Pad but none of the channels on the TV was listed on the TV guides I could find, however there were about 10 different "cable" providers to choose from and I couldnt figure out which one the Disney hotels use.

Any tips anyone as to how you can see what programs are on or due to start :surfweb:

the best programs come on after 10pm at night, just tune into the CBS,ABC,Fox affiliates, but usually by then am fast asleep

I know it sounds sad but we always loved watching Back-to back episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch on ABC family before heading off to the parks - was gutted when it was no longer on during our last visit in October last year!:wizard:

We always joked that DH adored Melissa Joan Hart and always felt it was wrong he should fancy her when she was a 'teen' it was only a couple of years ago we actually found out she was 2 years older than him! Even back in the days when we were watching episodes that were brand new she was still older than him so he was always ok to like her guilt free!:rotfl2:

Disneys cable service is pretty limited (I swear there's about 20 DVC channels). We always stick one of the news affiliates on when getting ready in the morning or evening, I think we just like the background noise tbh. I always watch some sitcom reruns late at night too, I find it hard to get to sleep without the tv on to 'wind me down' so to speak.

I have a fab video of dh just channel hopping constantly for about 10 mins just trying to find something to watch...adverts, adverts, adverts!! :confused3

We did, one year, luckily find a channel doing back to back M.A.S.H but never been lucky since!!!:)

WalMart, "Snapshot by Progressive" and [Insert Law Firm here] on an endless cycle! And we think our commercials are annoying lol!

more adverts to watch,as was reading in DVC newsletter that there adding new channels to watch

And let's not forget the fantastics disclaimers on US tv

'drinking this beverage may cause obesity if consummed in large volumes which could lead to heart problems and cardiac issues and ultimately death. Not recommended for children pregnant ladies or those with breathing difficulties or digestive problems. If you are taking any form of medication please consult your physician before drinking etc etc etc...'

All said in a super speed voice!

I think the Disney resorts have a subset of channels, mostly ABC/Disney owned and then the OTA local broadcast affiliates for NBC,CBS and FOX.

Your best bet is just to channel surf :)

The adverts that annoyed me were the BOB DANCE, WHERE EVERYBODY RIDES!
these are the Hyundai ones where he gets his grand daughter to say it! lordy its painful!!!!!:)

Ohhhhhhhh! I can't believe I forgot about these :rotfl2: they were everything that's wrong about a commercial all rolled into 30 seconds!

After our trip in 2009, my brother and I showed the Bob Dance adverts to our friends when we got home! Sooooo cheesy!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: DH and I have watched that poor kid grow up over the years.

That being said we did find a channel that showed back to back that 70's show. Also I can struggle to get DH away from the Weather Channel. Seriously he gets to the room and one of the first things he does is put it on.

one thing that bugs me is not just the ammount of adverts but that they play the end credits before the end of the show.

Oh and DH wanted me to add one about those warnings as well. His favourite was the one for the anti depressent that caused amongst other things, DEPRESSION, suicidal thoughts, internal bleeding, weight gain, sleep disorders, some forms of cancer.......:scared1: Seriously after watching some of those adverts you would never want to go near a medication again.

Is it the weather channel that does 'you local forecast on the 7's'? So you get it at 7 past 17 past 27 past etc..We tend to have the weather on as well just so we can hear them say tomorrow will be hot, the next day will be hot and the day after will be hot, oh yes bring it on!...:)

I think so but don't forget the one that does your local on the 8's.

DH is however aware the minute that they start showing weather for the week we are home that is it no more weather channel. I like to think of it as his come down time plus hearing its gonig to be sunny and hot just makes me

We always watch a channel called USA, they usually have Law and Order on or some good films!

In the morning it's always the weather channel for the local on the 8's
