when you are bad on the DIS, you get points. If you get enough point, you are banned. Sometimes for 24 hours, sometimes for a week, and then there are the unfortunate ones that get a permanent ban!

I got a speeding ticket. ONCE. I was speeding, by the way.
I felt bad when the ::cop: wrote me up,
but when I got the letter from the Dept. of Transporation (or wherever)
I almost cried.
It is a horrible letter, telling you that you have violated the blah blah blah
and makes you feel like you need to go to confession immediately. And I am not even Catholic.
It rather rambles on with a complete guilt trip about how disappointed the state is in you. I took it very hard.
Oh, and PA has outrageous fines, too.

I was going 50 in a 35 MPH spot. Not in a town or anything, on a country road, complete with cows in the pasture.

I believe they send you a pm. I have never gotten points so not 100% sure. Never gotten a speeding ticket either. Once on the way to Vegas, DH went 90 in a 65 zone and got pulled over. Anyone that has ever driven to Vegas knows how easy it is to speed. Anyway, I was able to talk ourselves out of that ticket and we only walked away with a warning. My MIL was very very ill and dying and I explained to the officer that we were trying to get there quickly. He did give us a guild trip, saying we had kids in the car, blah blah blah. We slowed down after that.
