Random Monorail Question

Our last few trips we have not used the monorail much except to do a little resort hopping so I'm hoping someone can answer this for me.

At the TTC, I seem to remember (a long time ago) to transfer to the Epcot Monorail we had to walk down the exit ramp and then turn around and walk up the entrance ramp but DW thinks that we just walked out of the monorail and went across a platform to pick up the Epcot train. I remember doing something like that too. So, the first thing that occurred to us is that maybe the express was one experience and the resort loop was the other. Can anyone clarify this for me? I'm really just curious.

Express you walk across the platform, for the resort loop you need to go down the ramp and then up the other side.

My memory is a bit fuzzy.... But this does kind of ring a small bell for me.

Did they flip the loading sides/ramps for the Monorails at some point? I know that WAY back when at the Magic Kingdom Monorail load happened up the central common walkway before they flipped things due to traffic flow/backups so everyone exited from the center platform, But I can't for the life of me recall if the TTC was ever flipped after the EPCOT addition. (MAYBE it was done sometime around MKIV/VI transition? or maybe earlier? Or possibly even back around they relaxed the old 'must have a valid multi-park ticket to ride the EPCOT Monorail' rule? [I definately recall at one point there being someone checking our passes on the EPCOT station] )

I seem to recall a "private" ramp around back that led from the Resort Monorail directly to the Epcot boarding platform, without exiting the station.
