Just a few random questions all bundled in one post.

What is "The Great Movie Ride" and would it be suitable for a child who frightens easily by loud noises?

What is the "Carousel of Progress" and would it frighten a child?

Is "On Man's Dream" worth the time?

For those scrapbookers....
On average, how much does a 12x12 scrapbook cost in the world?
Is there any place that has more scrapbooking stuff that others?
Will I run into items that will only be available at one spot and nowhere else?

1. great movie ride is a ride through the movies uncluding the wizard of oz and mary poppins it includes the alien from the movie alien this may sound strange but im scared of that alien and will cover my eyes when we come to it (it's strange because im 12)
2. carousel of progress is a ride which goes through a family in different time periods and talks about what has happened at the time
3. im not sure about that but oh well

I was excited to see One Man's Dream until I realized most of the "historic" objects were reproductions. The film is short and interesting. I doubt children would enjoy this exhibit very much.

COP would be fine for kids. I agree with MaryPops about the Great Movie Ride. The Wicked Witch makes a dramatic appearance during the Wizard of Oz sequence which may frighten a child.

I agree with previous posters so far. One man's dream is interesting for adults...boring for kids. Carousel of Progress is fine for all ages. I have many fond memories of this ride from my early childhood. Kids today probably think it's kind of boring but I think it's still fun and we do it with my kids when we're there and it's open. The great movie ride we did this last trip with my ds's 3 and 6. We told them ahead of time that there would be a pretend alien, etc. and they were fine. Closed their eyes during part of it, we held them close, and all was fine. That one is your call. Some parents would probably not take the kids on it, but I think it's fine.

Now, with scrapbooks. I saw a couple of different ones when we were there in May 2004. All the parks, to my memory, had the same ones. I ended up buying a dark leather album with Disney embossed on front from DTD store for about $20-25. Several kits with papers, die-cuts, etc. are out there: in parks, in gift shops of hotels, etc. Most are the same, but occassionally you'll see something different. Check them out. they range from about $4-$15.

Hope this helped. :earsboy:

The Great Movie Ride is a ride through famous movie scenes from Classic movies enacted by Audio Animatronics characters. There is some live action excitement and 2 short films. May be too intense for small children (there are gun shots, the Alien from "Alien", etc.

What is the "Carousel of Progress" and would it frighten a child?
Carousel of Progress was the brainchild of Walt Disney that debuted at the World's Fair. It is a journey through the 20th Century with Audio Animatronic characters. When the scenes change, the entire seating area of the theatre revolves around the stage. It is not frightening in any respect. Kids will like the audio animatronics and the cute song.

Is "On Man's Dream" worth the time?
If you are really into Disney and like the history of Walt and the creation of the studios and parks, then you will enjoy this. May be boring for little ones.

A scrapbook that size will likely cost at least $25. They have a Scrapbooking store at Downtown Disney called World of Memories... they have the best selection. Also check out places like Michael's or local scrapbooking stores for a really wide variety of Disney scrapbooking materials, including princess costumes, princess, Mickey, Pooh etc background paper and they even had a Jack Sparrow Costume pirate: last time I was in the local store. You will find lots of stickers at World of Memories, but I have found more at the local stores.

I would not take an easily frightened child on the Great Movie Ride for reasons already listed. Can't imagine anything frightening in the Carousel of Progress but little kids might get bored. Older kids would probably find One Man's Dream interesting, but not small kids. Adults really enjoy it.

If your child frightens easily, then skip the Great Movie Ride. My 3 and 4 year olds have only ever said "not again" to the HM, so I think that I have been pretty lucky ridewise.

CoP was only margionally interesting to them, but enough so to get a nice rest and allow the adults to enjoy it.

Have not seen the other.

Do you feel that there is nothing unique there?

DW is an avid scrapper and everytime we go she laments that Disney is "too late to the party with their scrapbook merch". I can't tell you exactly what that means, but she was disappointed in the selection. I am guessing that other veteran scrappers would agree. We've been to WDW many times and she has done quite a bit of WDW scrapbooking(our DD is a CM so you can imagine the volume of photos). Maybe she is more demanding than others would be.

I agree with everyone else on the attraction questions. All three of the ones you asked about are probably more for adults or at least older children, but only the GMR has a fright factor. :earsboy:

Thank you! That says a lot. I am thinking I can find more at my local scrapbooking stores than I can in WDW.

Since you've gotten lots of good advice on the rides, I'll try to add my 2 cents about the scrapbooking. I've collected lots of Disney stuff and found some things special to WDW. The only album I've gotten has been one from the cruise. It has the ship on the front.
Don't forget to take some pics of "words" from around the world. I usually take at least one that says Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, etc. Sometimes I even take attraction names also. It really adds a lot to pages.

Enjoy shopping. If I remember correctly, most of the stuff is pretty much the same from store to store.

Let me add to my previous scrapbooking comments...

I do think you can get most of your scrapbooking stuff cheaper at local stores. Still, there are some cool die-cuts, stickers, etc. that I ONLY saw at the World. (Ex: cool monorail cut-outs)

that being said, my best advice...look around your local stores so you know what's available, but don't buy yet. While you're at the world, check it all out and buy what is unique or you really want. Then when you get home, you get all the other goods...unless of course you'll be scrapbooking while you're at the world...surely NOT! :smooth:
