Random acts of pixie dust...

Just wanted to mention a couple of neat things that have happened to our family during our visit so far:
First - big ups to the cast members at City Hall. We were in the park at closing on Monday, which was early (6pm) because of the CM's Halloween party.

DH went to cash a travellers' cheque and there was quite a queue for service. A family was ahead of us, nutting off at a CM because of the early closing (only two hours earlier than most Monday nights at the moment, but you know what SOME people are like...!)

Anyway the CM was being very polite under trying circumstances and ended up giving this family a free pass to the park for the next day - going above and beyond, DH thought.

In all the confusion, DH accidentally cashed a $500 cheque, instead of a $50 one - and neither he nor the CM serving him, noticed - he just got $50 for it, which is the amount he had expected - so we were down $450 without even knowing it.:scared1:

It wasn't until Wednesday when he was going through our money that he realised what he had done.

He rang Guest Services and by the end of the day when we went into the park they had tracked down the discrepancy in their accounts and not only gave him the money but also gave us two "Any Ride Any Time" FPs to use - despite the fact that the error was as much DH's fault as the CM's!

So that all worked out great - then today we were sitting having a coffee on Main St when a couple came up to us and gave us two unopened packs of Doritos that they "couldn't be bothered carrying around" - kind of random, but nice.

Then later in the day, outside IJ, we were going to ride but the standby time was 35 mins.

Too long for us - so despite the boys disappointment, we were about to walk off when a man came up and gave us 4 FPs for use straight away = two very happy young boys!

Don't you just love DL!

I love to hear these stories! Those little extras make a magical trip even better. So glad the travelers cheque situation got resolved easily, that sounds very stressful. We've gotten and also given fastpasses out before too.

Hooray! Wow, my heart sank when I read about the $500 cheque and only getting $50. What a relief that they did track down the excess overage in the till!!!!

I would have loved giving away extra FP but I actually had two AP holders politely decline them because it was past the time for use. I tried to explain that the CM still honor FP with earlier return times but the guy decided he would wait an extra 10 minutes for his FP return time instead of going right away. Oh well! I tried!

I have had people look at me like I'm trying to rip them off when I try to give away unused FPs. :confused3

Great to hear about positive experiences with CM's. Well done to them for acting so quickly on the issue!:)

I love all these stories. I love giving away and/or being given FPs. It was free to me and for whatever reason I can't use it now, but means so much to the person not expecting to just walk onto the ride.

I've had the same thing happen. BUT the guy behind the person I offered them, said "I'll take them!" and then the other person was sorry they didn't snap them up!

One night as we were leaving Main Street, we stopped at the bakery for a snack. After we had ordered, my daughter spotted a macaroon, and asked what it was, having never had one before. I was explaining it to her, when the CM pulled it out and handed it to my daughter, saying, "Here, go ahead and try it. We have to throw this batch away for the new ones we are making tonight anyway." DD was so excited to get a free cookie at Disneyland and I was so impressed with the CM. Such a nice thing for her to do. Plus, we came back for another one the next day, and paid for it, so I guess it was a win-win for us and for Disney.

The next day, we were enjoying a snack at Coke Corner, and a middle aged woman who was with her elderly father came over to ask if she could borrow a chair from our table for her father to sit on. I said yes, but then I added that they could come and sit with us. The lady looked shocked, and asked if I was sure. "Of course!" I replied. We ended up having a very nice conversation with the two of them. She had brought her father to Disneyland for his birthday. :)

I think Disneyland is one of the best places to pay it forward!

We returned the favour tonight - we had FPs from earlier in the day for Space mtn, but after the fireworks we went to use them but even the FP queue was too long for our tired feet to contemplate - so we gave them away to another family - the FP line looked long but stand-by was 95 minutes!
