I love Florida! I got RAK'd (Random Acts of Kindness) three times this month. Someone at MK paid for bottles of water for the next 10 people. The person in front of me on the Florida Turnpike paid for my toll. Last but not least, a cheerful group of British tourists paid for my entrance fee at the winery last week along with heartfelt wishes for a Merry Holiday.

Pay it forward & pass it along. What Random Act of Kindness will you do this holiday season?

Christmas eve there was a lady in line at the grocery store who had difficulty paying her bill. It wasn't a lot, only $32. She managed to get most of it paid but was $5.20 short. She was looking in her bags to take something out, I just paid for it and told her Merry Christmas.

I only helped at the park....

I had a single Fastpass for 5 people, but there was only 2 of us, so I asked random people to come on the ride with us. After they realized, it was real, they all were very joyful about it.

I was able to do this twice and it was a great feeling!!! :goodvibes

This thread just reminded me that when my son and I were travelling back home after Christmas we stopped at a very busy chik fil a. We were in the drive thru and when we got up to the window to pay they said the car in front of us had paid $2 toward our bill. Which only reinforces my thinking, what goes around comes around. As I like Kim have helped out people in need with a few dollars here and there when I could.

I love this thread! How heartwarming.

Unfortunately, my daughter fell very ill during our Christmas trip to WDW. On 12/21, we called DVC and they managed to book us a studio for 3 nights to stay, last minute, during Christmas so that we could stay with my daughter if she had to remain in the hospital. Our airline also changed our tickets and waived the charges. When she was released from the hospital early, both DVC and the airline reversed all of our changes (and even refunded a newly booked ticket) without any penalties. It was nice to know that nice people are still out there. The customer service people we spoke to during this time were so kind :)

in terms of wdw...we've passed along fast passes to other people and then christmas 09 my adult son and daughter were in line and my son (mr. social butterfly) was chatting with the people in front of them and ended up being invited to join them in their group fast pass. they'd just purchased dvc and got an all day fast pass for dhs so they rode rnr and tot a ton of times with them.

as someone who goes to wdw frequently i like to try to go out of my way to do or say the little things that make someones visit (especially people with the 1st visit button) a little more special. sometimes the little things make all the difference.

I'm currently working on a letter of appreciation to WDW and this is an event that is going to be in this letter. So, here's a little snippet of my letter that just happens to relate to this thread. ;)

During this solo trip, I was in Epcot on September 28th of last year waiting, like much of the park goers, for Illuminations to start. I was located near the Norway pavilion and had a rather nice spot for getting photographs of the show. At one point, I was relaxing on the one of the outer rails near the lagoon when I felt the rails shake suddenly as if something (or someone had hit it). At first, it felt like a light hit or as if it felt like nothing had happened; however, when I looked to my right, I saw this family in a panic. Other guests were asking what was going on and from what I gathered, one of this family's children had been playing on the same rail I was leaning/relaxing on, fell, landed on her face, and knocked a tooth out.

Now, a little bit of myself. Normally, I respect any and all families. If a couple has got the heart and soul to raise and take care of children, it's not my place to butt in. But when I saw the mother trying to get some help from a cast member (obviously trying to find first-aid), I knew something was very wrong. Granted I knew that she was very panicked, but when I saw how she was carrying her child, something inside me snapped. It was the first time in my life that I ever seen a mother carry her daughter as if she was a rag doll, with her arms and legs dangling from her mother's arms and not showing any movement. I knew right away that the mother was asking a cast member for directions to first-aid, and this was something that I exactly where it was because my family and I had to take my older sister to that place after we rode Mission: Space (can you guess what color ride we went on ;)).

Knowing that this family might have problems (panicked mom, an injured child, and thousands of guests), I forsook all I believed in, and a good seat at Illuminations, packed up my stuff, and went to the mom and dad and told them that I knew exactly where first-aid was and if they'd follow the light of my camera (as my iPhone was dying), I could take them there as quick as I could. After much fast walking (I wanted to get this family there, but at the same time wanted them to keep up and not to cause a scene in Epcot), we finally got to the first-aid building near Future World and that little girl was able to get whatever treatment she needed. After seeing that family was okay, I went back to get a good viewing spot for Illuminations (behind a tree :headache:). When the show was over, I went back to see how that family was doing. The nurses there said that they were very quick in calming the little girl and got her better so she and her family were able to see Illuminations as well.

I've had a lot of great memories from Epcot, from doing Test Track and Soarin', meeting the Fab Five over at the Character Spot, and having the most wonderful dining experience at Akershus. But being able to help out a family in need (and just in time so they were able to see the fireworks) really stands out as an experience I'll never forget. :goodvibes

This is great!

My favorite RAK is at Disneyland (I'm a California girl- sorry!!).. My BFF & have passes & are there all the time. We tend to accumulate Fastpasses throughout the day & realize that we don't really need to go on the ride when it comes time to use them, so we hand them off.

We look for a couple of girls our age having a day of fun like us. Or a birthday kid. Or maybe a "just engaged" couple.. You know.. Just trying to add a bit more magic to other people..

Our favorite though was my BFF's bday 2 years ago. I'd made Blue Bayou reservations & we were waiting in line at City Hall for her bday button & phone call. We start to chat with a mom & her daughter (about 8 years old). Come to find out, they'd driven out of state for that day to celebrate the daughter's bday. I made a quick call & added them to our reservation.. But then they turned around & RAK'd us! They totally picked up the tab! It was out of no where & so kind..

One year, I went a week later than usual and ended up at POR during Pop Warner week. I was on the bus one day in the mid-afternoon going back to the parks. There was myself, a young mother with an infant and three teenagers from the Pop Warner competition.

The girls were cheering in the aisle and the bus driver admonished them twice for doing so and to sit down immediately.

Finally he had enough, stopped the bus but braked a bit too hard and one of the girls fell into the aisle and nearly knocked the baby out of the mother's arm onto the floor of the bus. The girl yelled at the bus driver that he was stupid for stopping so short, but the bus driver said if she hadn't been cheering in the aisles it would have never happened. I said the same thing to her and she replied, "Who died and left you, God."

By this time, I looked at the mother and she was visibly shaking to the point I thought she was going to gag or vomit. She was so distraught and the baby was beginning to cry.

I held her and the baby tightly in my arms until we got to her bus stop and then walked her and the baby back to her room, carrying her bag. I got her settled and stayed with her until she could get in touch with her husband (who was by the pool with their other child) and he could come take care of her.

I told him what happened and he thanked me and asked if I knew who they were. They happened to have their team jackets on and I remembered what team it was.

He was going to go down to the front desk and find out how to contact the team so he could register a complaint with Pop Warner.

Later in the week, I saw them by the pool, on the way back to my room. I stopped and told them how nice it was to see them enjoying themselves, instead of the state everyone was in the last time I saw them. He again thanked me profusely for taking care of his dear wife and child. It made me feel really good, because I am not always good in emergencies....

We're heading down in 12 days and DD8 just used her allowance to buy 2 packs of Disney silly bands to pass out to other kids in line for rides. She saw a thread on here about someone doing that and thought it might make someone's day! What a great idea!! :thumbsup2

I found a pattern for tiny envelopes to put pennies in. The front says Magical Penny. I have printed many out, will be adding a penny, sealing them and handing them out to kids for wishing while they are at Disney.

Don't know if it is a tru RAK, but I know I would have appreciate something like that when my kids were little ones (all grown now).

Such a great thread!

We had someone approach us on our check in day and offer us several bottles of water and some Disney snacks, as it was their checkout day and they didnt wish to take them on their flight, I thought it was very neat of this couple.

We just returned from WDW 1/4. We were there for 2 weeks and during that time we had given away FPs several times. One that stands out is we had already done TSM and when we got out there was a 3 hour wait. DH sees a teenage boy waiting for his family outside, asks if he would like the pass, he hops up all happy and said he knows he will be waiting a LONG time for his family, he walks away happily towards the FP entrance! :)

Our last day there we have 11 QS left and 11 snacks. We ate lunch, still had 6 QS left, got 2 pizzas to go, so we have 2 QS left. DH doesnt want to mess with it, we get ready to go and I decide Ill just appoach someone and offer to pay for their meal. You know many ppl think you are strange if you do this :confused3. I found a young family talking about sharing a meal or two, I ask if they are on the DDP, they say no, so then I offer to give them 2 full meals. She thinks Im a litte crazy at first I know! In the end, she gets 2 pizza meals for the kids and mom and dad both ended up getting a meal, it was nice to be able to help:wizard:

I love the silly band idea!

I always bring glow bands with us and pass them out to kids at the parades. Last trip a mom with a young boy were sitting next to us and he wouldn't stop fussing and squirming and crying. I gave him three, and he was entertained for the rest of the parade. LOL She wouldn't stop thanking me, but it was really no big deal. Glad to have helped.

We have had extra passes to the ren faire and gave them to a dad with his kids - they all ended up getting in free. Tickets were $15 a piece, but we get them free through the military, so it was nice not seeing them go to waste.

If I have it, I'll pay the toll for the person behind me. (45 cents)

Someone paid for my drink in the starbucks drive through the other day!

OH! I forgot about something we received last trip. My three year old dumped her chocolate milk all over her shirt and I went into a shop to buy her a new shirt and the CM at the register noticed how messy she was and told me to go to customer relations (or something like that) and they gave me a voucher for a new shirt! I know that they've done this before, but I was so greatful for it, since most of the shirts were over twenty dollars! (at DHS) My three year old loved picking out a new shirt and having the lady CM's fussing over her. It was adorable, and she still talks about them whenever she sees the shirt.

This is the story of my favorite moment at Disney.

My mom and I were at DHS Fantasmic one night and after we got seats this exhausted looking elderly couple with an energetic little girl came and sat next to us. The couple looked so relieved to just be sitting still, but the girl was still bouncing up and down. So I thought I'd distract her for awhile, to give them a break.

She was wearing a birthday button, so I said, "Happy Birthday, Princess!" And that began the best 40 minutes I've ever had at Disney World. We discussed princesses and fairies and how her mommy was sick but her grandparents were taking good care of her. She asked me about the show, because she'd heard parts of it were scary, and I promised that I'd protect her from the scary parts. I made eye contact with her grandmother several times and her appreciation was obvious.

When the show started she slid closer to me and we "ooo"ed and "ahh"ed together at all the right parts. She whispered to me about her favorite characters as they put in their appearances, and when the scary part started I put my arms around her and she buried her face against me.

And when the show was over, we exclaimed over how wonderful it was and how much we liked it. Her grandmother thanked me for the respite while her grandfather gathered their stuff. And then they left.

And I used to know more details, like all their names and how old she was; which characters were her favorite and what else they'd done that day. But it doesn't matter because I still remember that by giving those people a break, I got the most special moment I've ever had at Disney.

As corny as it may sound, I have tears in my eyes :goodvibes!

Every year, each day during the week before Christmas, I pay for the person behind me in the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru. The employee at the window usually never understands at first, and I'm always embarrassed while explaining.

I've since stopped going to DD during the week, but last weekend when I was in the drive-thru line, someone paid for me! I was so surprised and SO HAPPY to be on the receiving end of a RAK!!!

Also, one year my mom was shopping at KMart. The man behind her had only a few items, so she let him go ahead of her. What happened? He paid for her entire order ($30+). Gotta love RAK!!!

I love this thread! I'm absolutely ridiculous, you guys are making me all emotional.
We also always give away our fast passes if we dont use them. Once, we were at a restaurant having our meal, I had just flown from Canada(home) and had driven from my mom's place in Newport Beach with our old van. Our luck, the van not only died on us, but also got a flat during our meal so it made it impossible for us to back home. I will admit being in a country away from home, that I wasn't used to, added that much more to my stress levels.

We went back inside the restaurant and the store manager didn't even think twice about what to do. I had barely finished my sentence, when she wiped out her Triple A membership and called them for us. She literally saved our night. It was such an emotional day with all the traveling and driving, to finish it with a broken down vehicle with a flat, was just terrible.

Another time we were at a restaurant, and came across this older lady who you could tell was less fortunate. We used a gift card we had, and used the last 15 dollars on the card to pay for part of her meal.
