Random Acts of Kindness

I always say "thank you" and please...I am working very hard to install this in to my 2 DD's....They are getting the hang of it, but have not mastered it yet..lol
I rescue cats and I have a group that helps place Akitas....
I also recently adopted a Soldier....I just sent my first letter and next week I will send at my first care package! I can't wait!
I am a big believer in karma....I treat others how I want to be treated and to me that is the best way to be.. :thumbsup2

That is so nice of you... :cool1:

Thanks, it was sooo COLD that day with wind chills ...I couldnt believe any parent would let their son or daughter walk. There are not any houses near by so I know he already had walked a ways!

When I see an elderly person walking home from the store with heavy bags, I can't help but ask if they would like a ride home. So many refuse, but I still put the offer out there. :)

Lets hear how you make a difference in this sometimes not so nice world. Tell us what you do to make someone smile either at WDW or out in the real world :goodvibes .

-when going through a toll booth I always pay for the person behind me ( if I have the change)
-when at WDW last December, I bought extra pairs of the stretch gloves ( you can find them for under a $1) and gave them to a couple of people who looked like they were chilly while at the parks at night.

Oh my gosh, someone just did that for me, maybe it was you, anyway, the next time I go through the toll booth, I am going to do the same.

Since we got back from our trip in Sept. I try to do one nice thing a day. We saw a shirt at Disney that said "do something different...smile back." So, I've made that my motto...
Recently, I was at a red light and noticed a vehicle backing up in the other lane...It was obvious she was in the wrong lane ...as soon as I made eye contact with her I waved her on...the light in my lane had turned green...and the guy behind me must have been in a hurry b/c he honked...but oh well-he could wait a minute.

Sometimes when we're at the parks, we like to stake out a place before the parades while we relax a bit. We'll take out our drinks/snacks, review our itinerary, double-check our FPs. And we usually don't care if we even see the parades; we're much more interested in watching the crowds and having a little downtime.

So just before a parade is about to start, we'll begin looking for folks who are politely trying to negotiate through the crowd, looking for a place to sit, park their stroller, etc. We'll give up our seats to those folks and then hit the rides while people are watching the parade. The look on people's faces make the little extra time we spend waiting around sooo worth it.

im amazed that simple common courtesy has just evaporated from our daily lives. I work in a police department and just the simple task of being nice and not having an attitude when people come in often gets a"thank you so much for being so nice" also I do believe that what you put out will come back to you. over the weekend my sons and I were in a resturant. someone had dropped a 5.00 bill by the front door and my oldest son saw it. He said look mommy someone dropped their money, I told him to pick it up and see if he saw someone looking around for it. we looked out the front door and there was a man putting money in his wallet. I told my son that the money was prob his. my son took the money out to the person and he thanked him (he didnt speak a whole lot of english) meanwhile his friend was in the line to pay for his meal and he saw what was going on when my son took the money out to his friend, he looked like he couldnt believe that this little kid would give this money up without any kind of protest. the friend walked outiside and said something to the person who had lost the money than gave my son 2.00. i thought that was really nice. also this weekend my youngest son was trying his luck at one of those crane machines, he wanted this mickey mouse that was dressed up in halloween clothes. I told him I had a dollar and he could try it 2 times. well he did and he didnt get the toy but this man was watching my son try and when we left he started playing the game. a few mins later he came out side to where my son was and said "you made a really good try for mickey mouse" my son told him thank you and then he said would you like to have him? he had won the toy for my son which I thought was so nice :wizard:

For this trip to WDW I bought extra glow sticks for the evenings in the parks. Kids love them and there is no way that my 2 grandsons will use 100 of them!

I'm doing the "Pay it Forward" for this trip...This will now become a custom and not an act of kindness! :goodvibes Signed up for 5 and am now up to 17! :goodvibes

In my home life when I'm in line at the grocery store with a cart full of groceries I'll let the person behind me who has just a few items go before me..

Thanks again SweetinMaine-- You're doing one for my sons and I truly appreciate it!!

It's threads like this that make me realize that we shouldn't believe the hype. Charity towards others isn't declining, it just isn't getting good press. ;)

You have inspired me!

I am one of those people who offer to take pictures of other couples or families while at the parks. It’s a blast, especially since digital cameras are so popular you can take a couple of shots to make sure they get a good one. If you haven’t done it, it is one of the simplest ways to ‘pay it forward’.

I do this all the time. It nice to see the looks on people's faces b/c they're shocked you would be so nice to ask. I saw this one couple trying to take a picture of themselves (you know when you hold the camera as far away as you can and hope you get your face in the frame). I just had to offer to take it for them.

I live in a small town (about 12,000 but growing). I find the nicest drivers in my town. It's always hard to turn left when traffic is heavy on a 2 lane road. I've had several oncoming drivers stop and let me turn in front of them. I never had that happen in a big city.

I like to put extra change into the parking meter just before I leave so that the next person that parks there will not have to pay - I really like hearing everyone's ideas!!! :sunny:

I gave 2 families fastpasses just as they had gotten in line at soarin. It saved them an hour wait and they were so happy!

I totally agree that there could be more acts of kindness. I love the idea of paying for the person behind me at a toll booth or at a fast food joint. May have to try it out!!! :lovestruc

No toll booths where I am, but it's a military town. Last weekend I saw a newly graduated Airman and his family in the local Cracker Barrel. (You know them by their pride in wearing the dress blue uniform and from the pride in their parents' eyes.) I asked my waitress to get their waitress. When she came over, I asked for their check--and paid her tip--and asked her to just give the son a note saying "Thanks for serving your country. We're proud of you." (and to not tell who did it). I got to see their faces when she passed along then note; it was so-o-o worth it.

Next time you're in an airport or wherever and you see a young Serviceman or Servicewoman, thank. They'll treasure even that simple act.

We've given away fastpasses and that came back to us this past trip at Kali River Rapids. A family didn't need them (they had 3) and I said I would sit out. A few minutes later dh comes running back to me and said the family had found another one so I got to ride too! The family actually sought out dh to give him the extra fast pass - that was so nice!!

We had extra CS credits on our last day so we bought lunch for a gentleman and his wife - he knew nothing of the dining plan and was so touched!

While waiting for ds and dh to get off Soarin one night, there was a woman with a 1-2 year old little boy and she was trying really hard to take a picture of herself with him on her lap. I asked her if I could take the picture, and then we commiserated about how WE'RE always the ones taking the pictures so it looks like we weren't on the trip, LOL!

Dh always makes it a point to talk to the CMs and you'd be surprised at what some of them will do for you! On that same Soarin night (it was near 9 pm) dh and ds wanted to ride Soarin again, so they asked the CM if they could have the first row, middle section. Well, long story short, she had to hide them for a few minutes, then took them through the celebrity entrance and they rode again!

My DD5, on her birthday trip, went to Epcot and got fastpasses for Soarin. They were not good until a few hours later. We were both tired and wanted to swim at the hotel. So I gave her the fastpasses (she was in the stroller) and told her to look for two people who looked nice that she would like to give them to. As we passed in front of the fountians, she saw a cute, younger couple. She got up out of the stroller and handed them the passes. It was heart-warming to hear them say "what a cute little girl" and "she is sooo sweet"- I love to do random acts of kindness.

You guys are truly inspiring! Sometimes as a single mom it is hard to take the time or money to do little kind tings, but it's so worth it in the end. I'm going to try harder to make more of an effort to be like this too.

I had bought matching shirts for several days of our trip. Disney accidently sent me an extra in a size no one wears in my family. I called disney and they told me to keep it. I packed it and one day when we were wearing the shirts someone asked me where I bought the shirt. I told them on line and they were disappointed. DH remined me I had the extra in my bag. i pulled it out and gave it to the lady. She was so surprised. DH wants me to buy some extra shirts when they are on sale and do the same thing next time. He loved sharing the magic.

We also gave group of college kids fastpasses for EE that we weren't going to use.

People were also very surprised when DS 17 got up without prodding to give them his seat on buses.

We give all our extra bottles of water to the nice family from the UK that was staying in the room next to us.
