I love this place! Especially the steak and chicken taco.

What I really like about this place is the Cast Members are so friendly and helpful. They clear the tables and offer to get you refills on your drinks. It is also a great alternative viewing location for the fireworks show. (Not for a first time guest but if you have seen the show a few times this has an interesting and uncrowded perspective!)

Keep in mind the enchiladas are not standard size, they are more taquito size. That said DBF and I share them many times, we really enjoy them!! If we get our own plates I get the grilled veggies instead of the beans but that's because I don't like refried beans that much.

Hmm, interesting. We'll probably still split them, then maybe DBF can get a little something later if he's still hungry. Thanks for the tip!

as an aussie and a disney newb (heading there for the first time this sunday, omg, the excitement right now ) as we don't have mexican anywhere near my place (i know, the shock!) can someone very kindly, pretty please explain to me the difference between a taco, burrito, taquito and enchilada? also what's tostada and carne asada and pico gallo? and please excuse any spelling errors in the naming of these...

Taco is generally in a crisp corn tortilla shell (you know tortilla chips?) Sometimes they are 'soft shell' which is a flour tortilla. They can come as lots of variety. Chicken, beef, shrimp..etc.

Burrito is generally beans (sometimes refried, sometimes just beans..either black or pinto) and whatever the particular restaurant puts in a soft tortilla. Cheese is usually involved...

Taquito is beef (I'm not sure they do other meats) rolled in a tortilla and then fried (someone please correct this one if I'm wrong..my husband loves them but I don't get them often)

Enchelada is sorta open to interpretation depending on where you go. Some places put beans and rice in them. Cheese enchelada is a favorite of a lot of people. Just cheese in a flour tortilla and then smothered with sauce (green chile, red pepper..etc) Lots of times they do meat and cheese in an enchelada..the main point being that this item is smothered in sauce and sometimes cheese.

Carne Asada is Spanish for Steak

Pico De Gallo is basically onions, tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro, jalapeno...making up a fresh salsa. Yummmmmm

A tostda is like a taco but the tortilla is fried flat so its not folded in half. The ingredients are then piled on top (beans, meat, cheese, lettuce, whatever else you want) At Rancho del Zolcalo the "Tostada Salad" is actually a normal taco salad with beans, meat, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, salsa and guacamole, I believe there were some peppers on there too maybe (cant remember if there was rice in there) in a taco salad shell. I had one with chicken last week and it was pretty yummy.

Ambiance is fantastic at night! One of my favorites other than Cafe Orleans while F! is happening.

I'm so looking forward to this.

All of this food is also the food sold at the Mexican food restaurant in CA (name escapes me) down at Pacific Wharf.

I go to Rancho or the one in CA always on my trip! I agree that the rice is dry but I mix it in the beans so I really don't notice We've been going there since I can remember and it is by far my favorite restaurant in all of DLR! Plus you are able to fill up your water bottles in the filtered cold water without even a flinch from the CM's. All of the CM's are so nice and will help you with anything you need! Plus its one of the few CS places with real plates and silverware!

Taco- Generally meat, lettuce and cheese in a small hard or soft tortilla folded in half. Can also include sour cream, guacamole (avocado and salsa mixed together), salsa, etc.

Burrito- Large soft flour tortilla folded/rolled to contain fillings like rice, beans, meats, cheese, etc.

Taquitos- little corn tortillas filled with shredded chicken or beef (and sometimes cheese) then fried or baked to make it crunchy.

Enchiladas- I made these for dinner last night! Cheese, beef, chicken, or pork, usually shredded, and rolled in corn tortillas, then covered in red sauce and cheese and baked.

Tostada- A Flat crispy corn tortilla topped with chopped veggies (avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, etc) and meat and beans.

Carne Asada- Steak

Pico De Gallo- Translates to "Beak of the Rooster". It's coarsely chopped salsa.

That said, she liked it. I did not. It is not on my list of places I recommend to people and I am unlikely to suggest we go back.

It's CalMex. I like it....don't love it. A good diversion from burgers & nuggets. Also a great location (next to BTMRR) with a nice ambiance.

FYI.....Splitting a tres leches cake while sitting outside (with maybe a cup of coffee) in the evening lights.....is a good 20 min. spent (if you need a little break from touring).

I think we'll try it. Just looking for a little variance plus the location, at night, sounds cool. I love that area of the park.

Yikes, that scares me. There a place here in town that I get sick at too everytime I eat there. Not super sick but an upset stomach. You'd think I'd learn. I am thinking they might put a spice in that just doesn't sit well.

We love this place. We ate there as soon as we got into the park this last trip (I had been up since 6am and had not eaten anything yet). I got the veggie tostada salad. It was awesome as always. I don't remember actual tostadas on the menu, but tostada salad. They are basically the same as a taco plate but in a large flour tortilla fried into a bowl.

I have a sensitive stomach. That is why I do not eat before getting on the plane because I never know when it will go bad for me. But I have never gotten ill at the park.

I would agree that it is cali-mex. which is really all you get in Ca.
