Anyone stayed here? What's the consensus?

Planning on coming Sept/Oct 2010, on this trip will be self, DS 7, DD 13 and DS 17.

Wanting to try and do this trip on the cheap(ish) so no staying at the Disney hotels but happy to spend $80-$100 a night at a good neighbour.

We are out-and-about trekkers when we travel, so the accommodation really is just a bed and a shower and a place to store the suitcases, we don't intend to "vacation" at the hotel. 1 room should be ok for the 4 of us, we're not very big people.

Was attracted to the proximity of the hotel, and also the breakfast included (saves about $40-$50 a day in food for 4 people).

Any input appreciated - including alternative suggestions.

Many thanks. :goodvibes

Hi Oz...

We stayed there this past September for 2 weeks .

We stayed in a premium room and in a word it was Fantastic !

There was 4 of us ( 2a & 2c) plenty of room.

Great pool ,clean rooms , very comfy beds , very quiet and the location is excellent .

Breakfast is a bit bland and I recommend you take some vegemite , honey etc for the toast as the only spread was Apple when we were there . There is cereals , pastries , muffins some days and fruit , tea coffee and juice . It certainly saved us a few dollars by not having to buy breakky each day.

Staff are very friendly and helpful .

If you are getting a car there is plenty of free parking too.

I did a full review on my return on this board so do a search and it should pop up near the top.

As I said we were in a premium room and I could easily recommend that to you.

Happy to answer any other Qs you may have.

We stayed there in June- but we had one of the older rooms in the back section. It was called a family suite, and was 3 rooms adjoined... Other than I felt that the noise at night was a bit much- i would stay here again... The room we had was older, but was in ok shape- like you, we did not spend any time in the room- itwas just a place to sleep. The breakfast was nothing special, but it got you going, and did save some bucks... I also had spaghetti from the little walk up restaurant - it was YUMMY!

I haven't stayed there, but you asked for other input. Have you looked at the Anaheim Desert Inn or the Castle? We have stayed at both, in their suites, and they are reasonably priced and have a great location.

I think the Anaheim Desert probably has the cheapest suites on Harbor. It's not a really nice or fancy hotel, but it has everything we need. The 2 bedroom suite has one and a half bathrooms, which is really nice as a family of 5. It has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and it is really close to the park.

The Castle is about on par with the Anaheim Desert Inn, but further away. We stay there if the ADI is full. Their suites are nice, too, and they are reasonably priced, but they have an outdoor pool. It's hard to get around the corridors with our huge double stroller. It's not as much of an issue at the Anaheim Desert.

We've been staying at the Anaheim Desert Inn for 5 years now, and have probably been there over a dozen times, and we're always pleased with it. For the value and location, you can't beat it. There are better hotels out there, that's for sure, but their prices are exponentially higher, and they seem to have fewer parlor or 2 bedroom suites.

We stayed here several times when Wyndham was doing free nights if you found a lower rate on another website. I like the location because it's a nice easy stroll to Disneyland, but I thought the rooms were tired and in need of an update. If you decide to stay here, request an upper floor room. The ground level is sort of noisy with cars parking toward the rooms.

Have you checked into Howard Johnsons? They have great Entertainment Book rates, and it is a hotel not a motel, big difference. It's a little farther from Disneyland than the Ramada, but IMO it's worth it. The rooms are great and the beds are comfy. Unfortunately, breakfast is not included. Here is their website that lists prices and availability. Keep checking back because they add more dates. http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14
