I recently read on allears that starting May 2008, some of the restaurants are raising their prices...for example, Le Cellier's mushroom filet has now gone from $29.99 to $34.99! Can anyone confirm if this is true? If so, do you know of any other places that are raising their prices besides LC?

I'm sure it is true. With rising costs, most restaurants regardless of whether it is a Disney restaurant or not are raising prices.

Of course, prices are increased periodically anyway so I would guess this is another one of those times.

That nasty supply and demand, at work again!

have been increasing in the US just check your local market. A few years ago, with the appearance of mad cow in the US, foreign demand essentially zeroed out. In the last couple of years foreign demand has increased, imports have decreased and US supply has remained pretty constant.

Overall food prices are going up but beef has been going up faster.

It wouldn't surprise me. On our last visit to the Yachtsmen (February), we were really suprised by the high prices on everything. All the entrees were practically 40 bucks a la carte.

But at least the food was really good, like it used to be.

LC has bumped up the price of the mushroom filet, and they have also taken off the regular maple glazed filet!!! We were so dissapointed in the new menu last week when we were down in the world, that we gave away our reservation and managed to get into the cali grill instead. The cali grill has somehow not managed to increase the price of thier filet, and while that menu changes weekly, thier chef is smart enough to leave the most popular items on the menu, unlike the new chef over at LC.

I can confirm a price increase at both Plaza Restaurant and Chefs de France. I'm a creature of habit and eat the same things most of the time, so am able to judge by my total bill, which went up around 10% or so.

People - how do you think that meat gets to Disney World? How do you think anything gets to Disney World? By truck. And trucks use fuel. And fuel prices have climbed how high in the past year? Even if the trailers are put onto trains, you still have to get that truck to the train and then unload it and then get it to its destination.

Anything you eat, unless you raise it and take care of it yourself, has to come by truck. That will be the last place your groceries are put before it reaches your marketer's shelf. Or goes to a restaurant.

So, fuel prices go up, trucking companies need to raise their prices, supermarkets have to raise their prices, restaurants have to raise their prices.

It's not about greed or supply and demand or whatever. Go back to the source and think about it.

I see that you are leaving tomorrow!!!!!!! :yay: Have a great time.

Thanks a lot! I'm so excited! :dance3:

This is all true and sums it up. I just wonder if the food courts are gonna raise thier prices too or the cost of the refillable mugs get raised. I am really trying to "budget" what food we will be having to actually pay for during free dining this year. I bet the ddp will have a good size price increase for 2009 as well.

Last week, I noticed at the signature restaurants all the entrees went up $2-4. It's getting pretty expensive...

I thought I read somewhere that there was going to be an increase the end of May and June due to the holiday time period. I was pretty sure that was when food increased. Check the character meals, I think they increased this time too.

You're right, it is just being raised May 25 -July 5, 2008. They are calling it a special "holiday" pricing and is mostly at the buffets. Some other price increases are going on around the parks, according to the note.
