We will be in disney in 3 days!! looked at the forcast and looks like thunderstorms and rain most of next week! any tips for storming disney in the rain??? we have ponchos ready to go..anything else??
thanks!

Just ponchos...and temperature appropriate clothing because despite the fact that we live in Wisconsin when it was rainy and 60s in Florida it was kind of miserable in shorts and t-shirts. For some reason 60s at home feels warmer than 60s in Florida ;)

Think about your feet. If it truly is going to rain all day wear either water shoes or quick drying sandals. don't want to walk around in wet soggy tennis shoes and socks for 10 hours.

Probably one of the best days we had in MK on all of our trips was the day it poured all day! very small lines to everything, even rode astro Orbiters for the first time because there were only 4 other people in line.

If you and/or your feet like crocs and you have some already, my son and I did well with those in the rain. My daughter’s feet don’t do well in crocs. She had Keens and they worked well. If someone insists on wearing tennis shoes, pack a couple extra pairs of socks.

But pay attention to the hourly forecast. Until the actual day, if there is a chance of rain at any time during the day that is what you will see until the day of. But within a day and a half you can check the hourly. That helped us a lot last trip. Sometimes that rain that was predicted didn’t roll in until 2 or 3 in the afternoon and then it was just for a couple of hours.

We were there in April and it was warm and rainy.

My 8 year old DD did not do well with the poncho because we were told to take it off when we were in certain rides. That became old quickly. Because then we had to put them in our backpack. We had an extra backpack just for the ponchos. I would invest in the better quality ponchos then the dollar store because they ripped easily.

We had flip flops which works well. Some people had umbrellas and were happier with that.

Shoes are going to be what works for your family. I do not recommend sneakers although a lot of people had them on.

The lines are great when it rains. It seemed to dry out quickly though, but it sure did produce a lot of rain though in a short amt of time. We do not experience that here in California.

I agree with appropriate footwear. My whole family had Keen type sandals. If it looks like you will have a lot of rain you may want to take at least two pair of rain appropriate footwear per person, as the Keens didn't always dry overnight. I did not like putting damp sandals on in the morning -- the kids dried faster.

I also agree with sturdier ponchos, or go for raincoats. I know my kids prefer raincoats. We used ponchos, but we only had one day of showers and it they worked fine. We are looking at an August trip in our future, I think we will do raincoats for that trip.

I notice that you have a 4 yr old. One of the best things I did was get a stroller rain cover for my umbrella stroller. I wore a rain jacket with a hood, and my daughter sat in the stroller. We zoomed around the parks, while everyone else ran for cover:)

Definitely have a rain cover if you have a little one and a stroller. And the way the rain swoops in there, I’d cover it every time I park it if there’s even a cloud in the sky. I also got my son a toddler size rain coat instead of trying to cut a poncho to fit him. What’s handy for taking the rain gear on and off is a plastic bag to put them in. Also turn them inside out (dry side out) so they are not wet inside when you put them back on. My daughter prefers rain jackets too. She hates how ponchos leave your arms out. Can’t blame her. I’d wear a rain jacket too, but the poncho protects my backpack. The jackets are good though. I got hers from Wal-Mart. They are made of the same material and stocked along with their ponchos.

Here they are during Tropical Storm Debby in 2012.

My son in the stroller covered during Tropical Storm Andrea in 2013. He liked to stick his feet out.

Shoes that can get drenched and dry fast like crocs. My dd couldn't stand the poncho, no I. We bought a rain gear jacket from Cabelas that went over the hips, not plastic, it had a breathable liner which we needed.

I took our Mickey umbrella. Take zip locks for the autograph books and do not let your other half stick it in outside ropes of back pack running through the rain deluge! I tried to stop the man, but he didn't hear the yells.

Clean dry socks (mostly for the kids that are cold) and T-shirt if you do get drenched.

First, don't believe the weather man and prepare for rain and sunshine. I am not a fan of crocs. Too slippery in wet weather. Umbrellas, rain gear, and boots are best if you think the rain will be heavy.

DQ is great on rainy days. There is also bowling, movies, and other indoor activities. Dress for success.

I have learned through experience that if there is any rain expected at all during any part of the day the weather will report rainy. Most storms last less than 1/2 hour which clears out lines. Ponchos are great. I also learned that 100% rain doesn't mean 100% chance of rain but rather 100% of the viewing area will have some rain at some point. Here in the Midwest if it says rain we get rain all day long but it was brief flashes of rain and then clearing when we were in WDW.
