Our first DVC trip coming up soon - we are staying at BWV - I'm SO excited. Being the planner, I'm of course keeping an eye on the weather. It looks like it MIGHT be a rainy few days out of the week....although we know how accurate forecasts are :rotfl2: We tend not to let rain stop us but wondered if anyone had unique ideas for a rainy day. We have 2 DS (8 and 6) so an afternoon of beer tasting at ESPN is not in the cards. Thanks!!

You could head over to Disney Quest or catch a movie at the AMC theaters in Downtown Disney...

Or you could watch Disney DVD's in your room...

If it's not raining/storming too badly...purchase Mickey Rain Ponchos and go to the park anyway!! :)

Unless it is a tropical storm or hurricane, I find most rains pass through WDW fairly quickly. We never let it stop us. In July our trip was cloudy every day with scattered showers here and there. It was some kind of a front hanging over us. However, we had ponchos, and enjoyed the clouds covering the July sun. I would do the same thing now. Pack ponchos and plan on park touring anyway. Some of the crowds may be light as a result and give you much shorter wait times. Plus there are many attractions that may keep you inside or in a theatre for long times. Good luck!

You will be miserable if you let it get you down. Pack your ponchos (or plan on buying ones there) and take shoes that can get wet (Crocs are good for that). If you plan on renting a stroller get an extra one to cover it. If you hit a day that is really super extra rainy you might plan for an afternoon at Disney Quest. Although there might be a lot of others with the same idea...don't know how crowded that might get. Worth a shot tho to stay dry for awhile.

Check out community hall at BWV :thumbsup2 there are alot of great activities there for kids throughout the day, many are free but some have a small fee and you may also check out the community halls at OKW and SSR too; SSR's offers ceramics on one or two days of the week which I've heard is alot of fun for kids & adults but you need to still be in WDW on the day your piece is ready for pickup in order to take it home with you.

Also BWV has Welcome Home Wednesday for DVC members at Atlantic Dance and it can be fun for your family to check that out if it's a rainy day; sometimes they give away DVC hats or key chains, etc.

Thanks all - I'm hoping for sunshine but hey, we're on vacation and will go with the flow - those ideas will certainly help and have relieved my worries!!

Rain days are the best park days!
We hit AK one rainy morning in January and almost had the place to ourselves. We could walk right onto rides and with a hat and a jacket, we saw the park in no time!

We actually really enjoy it when it rains at Disney!

At Epcot (our favorite theme park), the pavillions are so big - my kids love exploring both Innoventions areas. They can easily spend a couple of hours learning about plastics, making paper, learning about bugs, fire safety, and all kinds of stuff.

We could also spend a while in the land (unless it gets super busy in the afternoon because of Soarin' being there).

Really, it isn't a big deal. Like the previous posters have said, unless you're there during a big storm, the rains blow over quickly. Having lived in Hawaii, we learned to just keep going and the rain will blow over. Not like the midwest where I grew up, where a rainy day was just that, rain all day. In Orlando it can just come up all of a sudden, then clear up.

A great attitude goes far - sounds like that's yours! Have fun!!!

We tend to hit DHS if kinda rainy. Showers dont effect any attractions or shows there anyway-just walking between them. Except the parade (which we skip anyway) and Fantasmic if it hasn't cleared off by the end of the night.

WLV room directly to right of the entrance has chinese checkers, chess built into the table top. Wonderful rocking chairs for kids to snuggle next to you and read story books and enjoy the fireplace.

We prefer Epcot on rainy days because most attractions are in indoor pavillions.

We love OKW for the big balconies and we usually play cards or board games out on the balcony during heavy downpours.

We did Disney Quest on a rainy day.....ONCE....NEVER again. The crowds were unbelievable so we got to do only 2 or 3 things! For the price it cost to get in it so wasn't worth it....

Consider resort hopping? Go over to one of the monorail hotels for lunch, jump on the monorail afterwards and check out the hotels on the monorail. Book a dinner at one the restaurants that pipe in the music and have a view of the fireworks.....relax in the lounges before hand, they usually have a tv set up playing Disney cartoons or a Disney movie for the kids, check out the shops, etc.

If it rains, go to the parks anyway! :thumbsup2 We sloshed thru Epcot during Tropical Storm Eduard this past August. :) The crowds were much lighter and the lines shorter. Pack some slickers and beach shoes (we wore our Crocs), a couple of towels, and you will be fine. :cheer2:
